Wednesday night I joined a bunch of my friends at Ft. Lauderdale’s Revolution LIVE to see She Wants Revenge. I have to admit that I came into it pretty clueless when it came to any details about the band. I had just heard a couple of singles and found them fun to dance to. One of my best friends, Elsie, is a huge fan and when she invited me to come along with her – I decided what the hell! I am so glad I went! First off, it turns out a large group of our friends were going so being able to spend a night dancing with some of my favorite people is always a win in my book. Second, one of the opening bands was Kill Hannah, who are a Chicago band that have had a long friendship with Mr. Billy Corgan himself! It was my first time seeing them and they were amazing – could definitely hear the strong Pumpkins influence. However, I was too chicken to go up to them after the show and express our mutual SP love. Fail. Lastly, wow. She Wants Revenge definitely blew me away – they were so.much.fun. I danced until I couldn’t feel my toes anymore! But what happened after the show was probably the best part of the night. We were able to meet the band & two of my friends got their SWR lyrical tattoos signed by both members, Adam & Justin! They were quite possibly the coolest guys ever – I always love meeting celebrities that don’t take themselves so seriously. Unfortunately, I just discovered that Adam was passing a kidney stone that night through his Twitter account! I can’t believe he was going through so much pain but still managed to be so polite to his fans: he chatted them up, signed autographs and took pictures with all of them. Not to mention headed to LIV at the Fountainbleu in Miami to spin a set after our show! I think it’s pretty safe to say that these guys just got themselves a new fan.
As if Wednesday couldn’t get any better, The Smashing Pumpkins also made an announcement about their new album, which will be entitled Teargarden by Kaleidyscope. It will consist of 44 songs that Corgan plans to release 4 at a time completely free of cost to anyone interested. The songs will begin to be released starting as early as next month! For those hardcore fans (ahem, me) that would want something physical to admire and oogle, the Pumpkins will be providing EP’s for purchase along with a box set once all 44 songs are released. The concept of the album will revolve around the cards of the Tarot, which I find to be completely original and amazing. And to boot, Corgan reported to Dave Navarro’s Dark Matter that the band will be touring throughout this entire process. I couldn’t be more excited for my favorite band. And this time, if I am lucky enough to attend a show and meet Mr. Corgan again, I plan on composing myself enough to tell him how much the band means to me….Or maybe I should just stick to a simple hello considering I was rendered speechless the first time around.
I love it when my friends think of me, especially when they are shopping. Heh. Yesterday, I woke up to the most wonderful little tweet from my friend, Roxy:
When I clicked on the link, I was taken to one of the most adorable Etsy stores ever, I Make Cute Stuff! The item she had linked me to specifically couldn’t be more spot on. It was a SQUEE necklace!!! I think it’s pretty clear by now that I use Squee a lot. When I fangirl, when I’m happy, when I’m excited and even as blog post themes (please see Squeeworthy). In fact, I think I Squee’d when I saw this link! Needless to say, I bought it. So thank you, Roxy, for thinking of me. You just made my unnecessarily huge accessory collection that much bigger and fed into my excessive bouts of retail therapy. Any other takers? 😉
Much like the infamous Twitter account, Shitmydadsays, I sometimes think that I should make my own: Shitmyhusbandsays. Augi never fails to crack me up. And please take heed of my warning: the new Third Eye Blind album, Ursa Major, is freaking terrible. Avoid it at all costs.
And I don’t mean the hairstyle! After waiting for what seemed like ever – Fox’s Fringe returned last night. I have not watched it yet as it has not aired at the time I wrote this post, but I can only imagine that this season will bring even more awesome. It is now safe to say that Fall TV is in full swing! My DVR may be crying on the inside, but I couldn’t be more excited.
