…Just for one day night!
Sorry for the super duper late post everyone, but last night we hosted a viewing party for the season 4 premiere of Heroes! Although a few fans couldn’t make it at the last minute, we still had a good time. However, I must say that it was quite the challenge to watch a 2-hour season premiere with people that had never watched the show before, but they were troopers and dealt with my yelling and grumbling under my breath. 😉
Our awesome friend, Roxy, made these kick ass brain cupcakes in honor of our favorite character, Sylar (of course). They were absolutely scrumptious but I have to admit that as I put the brain (actually a mold using candy) portion in my mouth, I may have gagged a little. The coolest part about these cupcakes is that I tweeted about them this morning, and Ms. Wendi Lynn herself re-tweeted me with a message from a little guy you may know:
Uhhhh, awesome sauce. Have I mentioned how much I adore Twitter? Because I do. Just sayin’.
Anywho, as if these cupcakes weren’t enough, we also put together some pretty tasty Chicken & Waffles dishes, which ties in to the show as being Hiro’s favorite childhood meal. We definitely got no complaints on that front – the plates basically disappeared in a puff of smoke (super powers?). I also provided super hero masks to the girls (boys refused), which we found to be pretty debilitating in regards to drinking beer effectively and, you know…seeing. So those were short-lived.
So on to the stuff I know you really care about: the show. Do not read on if you do not want to be spoiled.
- Danko is dead. Finally. OMGZ overjoyed.
- When will writers understand that we do not like new people. These carnival peeps? No. Not interested.
- I hope Hiro is able to use his ability to do something meaningful…I don’t really know where they are going with this. Maybe he will go back in time and save Nathan?
- Sylar did not seem…like Sylar. He was like Sylar light. Me no likey. Emerge, fucker!
- Thanks to Comic-Con, I cringe every time I see Claire and her new BFF. I know what awaits: a pathetic plea for ratings!
I know these comments are pretty negative, but I cannot lie. I was pretty disappointed with the premiere. It was 2 hours, for Christ’s sake! They had 2 hours to make it amazing and “redeem” themselves for seasons past. But instead, they put together such a lack luster plot line. I have to admit, I was bored. I really hope they are able to spice things up because otherwise, I fear this will be their last season. I love my Heroes, but I am angry because I know it could be so much more as was evident with the first season. And apparently I’m not the only one feeling this way. The ratings are in and they are not pretty. Apparently, only 6 million viewers tuned in, which means the show’s ratings were down a ridiculous 46% from last year’s premiere. Forty.Six. That’s pretty bad, guys.
I have two words for you, Heroes: SUIT UP. And fast.

I have to admit, I stopped watching halfway through season 2. The first season was soooooo good. I mean, I know it’s hard to top the first season of most shows, but what writers need to remember is that it’s not always about topping yourself…sometimes consistency, even withhin larger plots, is best.

so ok. i TRIED to keep my commentary to myself on premier night… but c’mon… you must admit the name dropping, brand hopping, plea for ratings in that episode was worthy of bashing. now… i promised you i’d catch up and i will… being home, sick… i’ll catch up on heroes indefinitely.
BANANA NUT CHEERIOS FTW.
