First off, I’d like to say that I’m super sorry for the lack of updates this week. I’ve said it a million times over, but I really wish I could blog for a living. My actual living got in the way and I found myself feeling pretty overwhelmed with everything I had to juggle. Unfortunately, that meant that the blog had to take a backseat. But I hope to be back in action again starting today!
This is not your usual Lovable Friday – no list today. Just lots and lots of Mute Math love! For those of you not in the know, Mute Math is a new band from New Orleans that I am not afraid to say is the best live act out there. Seriously. Now, you may listen to their albums and not be very impressed, but I can tell you if you attend one of their shows, you will be blown away.
I dare you to find another band with the same kind of energy and passion these guys bring to the stage. On Wednesday, the hubs and our fellow Mute Math enthusiasts, Elissa & Chris, headed to Revolution in Ft. Lauderdale to see them perform on their Armistice tour. And although it was my 4th time seeing them live, I was absolutely floored at the show they gave us. I can honestly say that I would see these guys anywhere – they are one of the few bands I would see night after night and not tire of their antics.
Unfortunately, due to the kind of week I have been having, it was really hard for me to get there on time and I arrived about 45 minutes after the doors had supposedly opened. Of course they hadn’t and we were left standing out in the rain until they did. By the time we got inside the venue, it was jam packed. I had to settle for a spot upstairs, overlooking the band behind glass paneling instead of my usual front and center VIP spot. Too bad because having a spot in the pit was really worth it for the show – the band interacted with their fans all night: crowdsurfing, offering their instruments for fans to play and plenty of high-fives all around. I also saw a girl get smacked in the face with a cymbal. Can you say highlight?
I think they did a really good job of playing a mix of both old and new. I’m a little partial to the old stuff but after some of last night’s performances, I am definitely going to go back and listen to Armistice with new ears. All in all, it was a freaking awesome show. So awesome, in fact, that I wish I could relive the night all over again…for the next week.
And for those nonbelievers (shuuuuuun!), here are some videos to serve as proof of the awesome:
