2009 Highlights

I know a lot of people had a very rough year in 2009, but we were fortunate enough to have a really amazing year together. It almost seems like every year gets better since we moved in together and got engaged. I really believe that my husband is my good luck charm! Last year, I put together a similar year in review on my old blog, and I’ve decided to make it a tradition! So sit back and enjoy a quick rundown of the highlights of my 2009:

january

We rang in the new year at Marla & Andrea’s downtown loft with our closest friends, attended the art deco car show on South Beach, celebrated my co-worker’s wedding, held a season 5 premiere party for LOST at our pad, celebrated Ian’s birthday by laser tagging, had an epic girl’s night out at LIV night club and welcomed James into his new home by having a party complete with flip cup, beer pong & lots of jager.

february

Celebrated Adri and Jose’s birthdays at Buck 15 on South Beach, hosted my first Heroes party and had an amazing Valentine’s Day complete with breakfast in bed, a photoshoot and a surprise shopping spree at IKEA.

march

Celebrated Marla’s birthday at Eleven Leprechauns (which later shut down unfortunately), saw Girl Talk live and was able to jump on stage to join the madness and hosted a surprise Star Trek themed birthday party for Fullman.

april

We celebrated Gwen(1) & Brad-Pitt’s (4) respective birthdays at Bark Park in Amelia Earhart park, saw Rat-tat-tat live at Revolution from the front row and visited the Youth Fair.

may

This was an amazing month! Again scored front and center spots to see Kings of Leon at UM, went to see the NIN/JA (Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction) tour at Cruzan Amphitheater, went to see The Band from TV at the Shore Club with Rosy who got us VIP passes allowing me to meet both Grunny and Adrian from Heroes, had the *best* first meeting experience with Gavin Rossdale after his show in Orlando (14 years in the making) and went to visit family in San Francisco for a weekend.

june

Saw No Doubt on their reunion tour (probably the best show I’ve been to in awhile), celebrated my mother-in-law’s birthday at Le Tub in Ft. Lauderdale and Adam had a pool party to celebrate his own birthday.

july

Hosted a Rock Band party at our pad, celebrated the 4th of July with Camero and her family on Key Biscayne, my nephew turned 3 (!), we went to Comic-Con International in San Diego with our closest friends, celebrated my 28th birthday with family and friends.

august

Reconnected with old friends and made new ones at a special happy hour at Abraxas and celebrated Elissa’s birthday at her new apartment as well as at Yardhouse in Palm Beach.

september

Hosted yet another Heroes party after their short hiatus complete with chicken & waffles, Pink Ghost opened its new doors in Hollywood, we went to see She Wants Revenge where we met the band and they signed my friends’ tattoos, James’ held a True Blood finale party at his pad.

october

My cousin got married at St. Jude and had her reception at the Epic hotel, we took a rock-n-roll road trip to Tampa to see Muse open for U2 and stopped in Orlando to enjoy the Epcot Food & Wine Festival, Augi celebrated his 28th birthday by holding a full-blown kickball game at Tropical Park and we dressed as The Comedian & the Silk Spectre I from The Watchmen for the annual AgencyNet Halloween party.

november

We saw Mute Math for the 4th time at Revolution, I met Gavin Rossdale for the 2nd time at the Chris Evert Celebrity Tennis Classic in Delray Beach, Melanie surprised us at her birthday party by announcing that she was engaged to her boyfriend, Scott, James celebrated his birthday at his place, the hubs and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary by driving down to Key West and I planned a girls night at Cinebistro to watch New Moon.

december

Went to the Buzz Bake Sale with the girls and met Jared Leto and the rest of the boys of 30 Second to Mars, celebrated Elsie’s 26th birthday by doing a little midnight bowling at Splitsville, had an amazing Christmas with family and friends and was fooled in the worst way by my father-in-law with a fixer upper Kharmann Ghia when our actual present: a fully restored 1970 Kharmann Ghia was on its way!

Wow Meli! You really did have an amazing year! It’s funny because I remember almost all those events (well knowing about them through fb lol) & really hope 2010 brings more blessings your way (btw, can I hang with you one of these days so some -a little- of your luck can rub off on me? We really, really need some). Also, did Gavin recognize you the second time, since he saw you twice in the same year?
