Do not mock the photo above. These are just things you do when you are a Twi-hard, along with attending Twilight Night. Twilight Night was a 12-city promotional event hosted by Summit Entertainment on June 26th to get everyone excited and ready for the release of Twilight’s third (& best in my opinion) installment, Eclipse.
Thanks to NBC6, I was able to score passes for the event allowing myself and my closest Twilight friends to not have to wait in line enduring melt-your-face-off temperatures. It took place at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Miami, which is a gorgeous historical venue. Inside the theater were palm readers, makeup artists, henna tattoos and plenty of photo op’s, including the cardboard cut-out red carpet pictured above. We also picked up a lot of swag such as posters, lipgloss, buttons and more!
My only complaint was that they did not offer free food and drinks, which I thought was a given for a promotional event. We had to pay (up the nose) for movie theater type food, nachos, hot dogs and chicken cups, which ended up getting some of us sick to our stomachs. And there was no alcohol. In order to deal with screaming young fangirls, you need alcohol.
And alcohol definitely would have come in handy when listening to the event’s “house band,” Spin Light City. The local Miami group covered most of the tracks off the soundtracks, but not very well. The one that was especially blood curdling was Muse’s Supermassive Black Hole, which physically made me twitch. I hope that young man went home and promptly sent Matt Bellamy an apology email.
We were then treated to a Q&A session with Michael Welch, who plays Mike Newton in the films. He was a funny little dude, who was sometimes a bit obnoxious because he seemed to be trying too hard. But overall, his answers were fun even though they tended to be a little over the top. Check out his rendition of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing when asked what was his favorite karaoke track:

It was then time for the screening of New Moon, which was fun considering that I hadn’t seen it since opening weekend. I was just reminded of what it is like to see a Twilight film in a regular theater: tons of screaming, cackles and jeers. Thank god for Cinebistro because in the words of Barney Stinson: I am too old for this shit stuff.
So how many of you are looking forward to the release of Eclipse? Any special plans with your girlfriends?
Fill me in!

Covering Muse is a “no-no”. Especially that song in front of Twi fans… The baseball scene with that song playing underneath was the highlight of Twilight for me… Can we say Jasper spinning the bat around?? Hot! LOL.
Again, it was great to meet you yesterday. Sorry if it was totally weird with a stranger just stopping you and saying hi 🙂
