So you may be wondering how I fared on Friday after my crazy rockstar night on Thursday. To be quite honest, I don’t know how I made it through the day. In fact, I’m pretty sure I almost hurled while waiting on a street corner for friends. But I strapped on my big girl panties and soldiered on!
First on our to-do list? Another Tron: Legacy press event. We made our way to Flynn’s Arcade after breakfast at The Broken Yolk. That’s right, Flynn’s Arcade. They had transformed what I figure was an abandoned storefront into the legendary arcade that houses the Tron game. They really went all out for this one and had us walk through a dark tunnel where we entered an insane room covered in futuristic strip lighting. To our pleasant surprise, all the actors were just casually hanging out (minus Jeff Bridges). We walked around the room, admiring all the details before Rosy decided to get Michael Sheen’s (Underworld, Frost/Nixon, Twilight) attention and I’m so glad she did. He is quite possibly the most delightful person we met on this trip. He willingly gave us these awesome giant bear hugs (I love hugs) and kisses and was just such a joy to be around. I really just wanted to pack him into my pocket and take him home. So if you are out there, Michael Sheen, let me know if that’s possible.
Having such a nice experience definitely added some pep to our steps as we made our way to the convention center. While touring around the Hilton Bayfront, we noticed a very packed lobby. While looking through the crowd, my eyes immediately locked on the very tall Jim Parsons and I realized that the entire cast of Big Bang Theory was getting ready to be transported to their panel. Rosy and I made our way over to the lobby and introduced ourselves to Jim (Sheldon), Kaley Cuoco (Penny) and Johnny Galecki (Leonard). They were all complete sweethearts except for Johnny, who seemed really bothered by our existence. Obviously he doesn’t know awesome when he sees it. 😉
It was at that moment that I decided I needed to run, not walk to the Zachary Quinto/Tim Kring panel. I ran with all my might and just barely made it in time to slip into my seat in the 2nd row. Quinto was rocking his new, shorter do (which I love) and looking dreamy as always. Unfortunately, Tim Kring seemed to ramble on and lost my attention after about 30 minutes and it seemed as if he lost Zach’s too, which was not a good thing since he was the interviewer. I decided to leave the panel early and make my way to the Top Cow booth in the exhibit hall to get in line for the Milo Ventigmilia autograph signing. Thankfully, the lovely Rosy was holding me a spot right in front and we anxiously awaited.
Milo was such the sweetheart and ridiculously attractive, more so than I have ever thought in all my years watching Heroes (I know, don’t judge). We chatted for a bit and took photos with him – Rosy even had the guts to give him a quick peck on the cheek! Afterwards, we all had a mock “tweet up” with some of our Heroes girls were we shared squeals, hugs and general ridiculousness. But the day was not yet over (even though my body wanted it to be). I had to make yet another mad dash to Ballroom 20 to meet my husband and friends for the Girls Who Kick Ass and True Blood panels.
EW’s Girls Who Kick Ass panel would have been really great if it weren’t for Sucker Punch’s Jena Malone completely hijacking the entire show. Even when she wasn’t asked a question, she would interject and ramble for what seemed to be hours before someone had to pry the attention away from her. She did this for the entire hour of the panel, leaving me wanting to hear more from LOST’s Elizabeth Mitchell and Fringe’s Anna Torv (hello, girl crush!). However, Anna did ask all the girls on the panel if they had ever punched anyone in real life, because she wanted to know what it felt like, which was really cute. Unfortunately (or fortunately), no one could answer her.
Before we could stretch our legs and give our butts a break, it was time for the True Blood panel. This was a huge draw and a very raucous crowd. It was completely impossible not to get caught up in all the hype. The cast was really charismatic and even Anna Paquin, who is usually not the friendliest, had a big smile on her face and seemed to be having a great time. Unfortunately, everyone’s favorite sheriff, Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard), was not in attendance. To show he was missed, both Stephen Moyer and Anna brought out a cardboard cut-out of Skarsgard and placed him along the panel. Definitely not a substitution for the real deal, but sweet. We got another pretty amazing teaser for the new season and some little tidbits were revealed such as the fact that Alan Ball believes Sookie and Bill really are soulmates in the series (as opposed to the books), but that someone will be losing their memories very soon causing things to shake up a bit. Squee!
Considering my hungover state, the last thing I wanted to do that night was party it up again, so the hubs and our friends went to dinner at Quality Social, a really great restaurant in the Gaslamp District. After a couple of beers and food that made our tummies happy, we headed home and get some rest as we planned on waking up at 4am to get in line for Hall H’s Harry Potter panel the following day.
Tomorrow: a Saturday full of long lines, wizards, superheroes, tears, trivia, allergies, flirtatious winks, and Salvatore brothers.
