Weekend Highlights

Thanks to Yelp, the hubs and I scored free tickets to see the epic Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the American Airlines Arena on Friday night. Although I wasn’t too familiar with their tuneage, I was ready for an all out rock with your cock out experience complete with pyrotechnics, head-banging and extreme effects. Although that’s exactly what we got, we found ourselves a bit bored mid-way throughout the performance. I think this was due to the drawn out “story line” that took place throughout the show, narrated by an over-enthused man. Unfortunately, these narrations would sometimes outwear their welcome by dragging on for sometimes 10 minutes at a time. However, when they rocked, boy did they ever. I just wish there was more of it.

Together with a group of friends, the hubs and I made our way up north to Orlando to celebrate my bestie’s birthday at Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The weather was absolutely amazing (50’s to 60’s), which really got you in the Hogsmeade mood. We had a great time downing some Butterbeer, riding rollercoasters and giggling a whole lot. I’ve noticed that nothing soothes the soul better than acting like a child every now and then!
And for all those planning Orlando vacations, I suggest the weekend before schools let out for Christmas break. We were able to ride everything we wanted to (sometimes multiple times) without extensive or annoying wait times! I also recommend taking advantage of the single rider option – it helped ease the pain as well.
