I have to admit, I struggle with layering and putting together cute cold weather outfits. It’s something I’ve slowly been trying to master mostly by looking at fashion blogs and trying my best to replicate. It also doesn’t help that I don’t have a lot of winter clothing, being a Miami girl and all. Everytime I see a cute sweater or jacket, I always reconsider since I know I’ll only be able to wear it about 2 weeks out of the year give or take. Surprisingly, we have had a lot of cold fronts this year (global warming, what?), so I have had to really work with the little items I do have to keep me warm. Of course, I walked out the door and froze to death since I chose something short sleeved, but hey! I thought I looked pretty cute and colorful, which was definitely needed after another night of restless sleep. Seemed to work, because a coworker told me I looked really happy and cheerful, when what I really wanted to do was pass out on my keyboard.
Of course, my favorite part of the outfit are the boots. They were ridiculously cheap and have held up to constant use and travel, plus they are super comfortable. I really have to get a second pair in black to rock while in Europe. I especially love the buckle detail and the fact that you can fold them over for a more hipster-ish vibe. I can’t tell you how many compliments I have gotten whenever I wear them – makes me smile even harder when I think about how much I paid for them. Ah, the simple pleasures of a budget shopper. 😉

Love, love, LOVE the boots and scarf, Mel! I’ve bought a couple cutie scarves from Old Navy that have served me well. 🙂

What’s the brand on those jeggings?
Anika says
Totally have those boots in black, bought in some random store in Downtown L.A. 🙂
I wore them all over NYC, but I will say that you may want some inserts for walking long distances! After a while they weren’t as supportive as I’d have liked.

Michelle – the jeggings don’t say a brand on the label, but they were in a package at Nordstrom Rack. Don’t know if that helps any 🙁
Anika – these are the same boots I wore in LA. I tried finding them in black just now, but they are no longer in stock. Boo!
