So while I was driving last week, this huge and ridiculous smile spread across my face. Why? It was an absolutely gorgeous day, I was listening to one of my favorite bands on the radio and there was little to no traffic on the expressway. I got to thinking that the most simple things in life often go overlooked. However, oftentimes these overlooked moments are what makes life so magical. We tend to focus on the negative…well, maybe I should rephrase that. I tend to focus on the negative. I like to think that I am a pretty cheerful person, but I sometimes let myself get too overwhelmed with the seemingly bad or stressful. I won’t lie, this year has been a difficult one, but in the grand scheme of things: I am such a lucky girl.
I want to reset my focus. And that is the basis for the new feature on the blog: Magical Moments Monday. Every Monday, I will list what made the last week magical for me, whether it was a stranger holding the door open for me or an especially delicious cupcake. It is so important to keep your life simple and positive because it is so easy to let other (less meaningful) things take control and cloud your vision.
I was inspired by two amazing ladies I am lucky enough to call friends: Ms. Madonna and her recent blog post & Ang‘s 365 project.
So without further ado, here is the inaugural 3M post;
x. breezy days/nights making an appearance
x. pumpkin pie fat free yogurt (evidence)
x. the new girl’s intro (it’s Jess!)
x. stumbling on Hallelu‘s online boutique – love!
x. derby icon featured on ESPN body issue
x. the new MuteMath album, Odd Soul
x. spending time with old friends
x. spending time with new friends
x. celebrating my favorite person’s 30th
x. snail mail carrying a mockingjay pin (thx Anika!)
x. trying out a new hairstyle

This is a great idea and something that I’m constantly doing/working on! Sometimes I’m reminded to be grateful for the little things when horrible things happen- but it shouldn’t have to come to that :/

YAY! Even though I don’t document them, I still try to take time to appreciate the little happy’s of the day. 🙂

That’s exactly how I feel about it! And working in our field really helps put things in perspective, don’t you think? I feel like I should be so thankful!

Mucho love, my dear <3

Definitely… especially when working with kids. Their resilience despite the circumstances never ceases to amaze me. If only parents could get it together more often!

Love this idea! And it’s funny coming from you, because I see you as the most cheerful person on the planet (at least compared to myself!)

That’s because you don’t live with me 😉
Nah, I usually am cheerful, but I tend to immediately hyperfocus on the bad/stressful when it appears in my life.
