It was time to whip out another vintage hottie for all of you out there, and I figured I’d go with a classic: James Dean. But before I begin, I have a confession to make. I’ve only seen one old film, and that’s only because my hubby basically shoved it down my throat (another confession? I didn’t like the one he made me watch. It was Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Go at it. Lynch me.), so I’ve never actually seen Jimmy Dean in action. I’m serious. But he just sprang out to me in all the photos I saw – he was so beautiful and mysterious. Those bad boys…they always find a special place in my heart.
So if I was to watch a James Dean movie, which would you lovely people recommend? The quintessential Dean movie? Go for it in the comments!

It has to be Rebel Without a Cause!

Definitely Rebel Without a Cause.
Although I”m a little distraught that we’ve been friends for all of these years and I’ve never forced you to watch Breakfast at Tiffanys.

Agree that you gotta go with Rebel Without a Cause… also agree with your opinion on Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

I approve. 😉
& yes, absolutely Rebel Without a Cause. If you’re looking for non-James Dean classics to watch as well, Some Like It Hot is so fantastic.

Longest comment ever for the win…lose…win?…
I don’t understand…one old film? one old as in how old? As in what!?
Anyway, James Dean is a wonderful actor, and unfortunately only made three feature length films; Rebel Without a Cause, East of Eden (based on the John Steinbeck novel), and Giant.
I own all three, and would recommend all three. Giant, is just that…a giant movie. It’s MY version of Gone with the Wind in the sense of sprawling romantic epics. East of Eden is one of my favorite books of all time, and one of my favorite movie adaptations of a book of all time.
I second Anika on the Some Like it Hot recommendation — that movie has a great cast, a great script, and one of the funniest/best ending lines in cinema history ever. I swear, if it wasn’t for TCM, I would most likely not have cable.
I don’t think Breakfast at Tiffany’s is the greatest movie to get someone into watching more classic film(s).
The Sting? Barefoot in the Park? The Third Man? Citizen Kane? I could go all day, but I’ll stop…this comment is getting epically annoying.

Ugh, I hated breakfast a tiffany’s too! Some like it hot is one of my favorite movies, EVER! It stands the test of time, give it a chance.

Before you see any of those….watch Auntie Mame! with Rosalind Russel! If that doesn’t restore your faith in old movies, I really don’t know what will.
