NYCC was a total blur. I only went for the weekend, and had the most amazing time meeting friends old and new. I have to say I was a bit overwhelmed! I spent both Friday and Saturday walking the exhibit floor, and there was so much to see. Being my first time at NYCC, the main thing I took from the experience was that it was 100% a vendors con. Unlike San Diego, there were no major panels to attend and minimal celebrity draw. Also, there were no stand alone events to attend – all parties were linked to the convention. This meant that there were no network/show parties, which is the complete opposite of SDCC. So what was there left to do? Shop! And shop I did.
I was so happy to meet up with my now old friend, Elena, from The Colorful Geek (formerly Evietees). I always love love love her merchandise and this time was no different. She has added some new designs, and even jewelry! Look out for one of her necklaces on an upcoming blog post this week! I was also able to meet Jordan from Jordandene. I had been following her Instagram for some time now, and was so flattered when she reached out to me wanting to meet at Con! I absolutely love her fandom tees, aprons and undies. The typography is beyond gorgeous, and she always knows the perfect quotes to choose. Another one to look out for this week on a style post (ps; how AMAZE is her Luna lion hat?!?!).
Another highlight was definitely the Fangirls Night Out party hosted by the lovely ladies of Geek Girl Brunch. I’ve been following Jamila of Girl Gone Geek for some time now, and think she is just the coolest. Of course, when I found out she was putting together a party at NYCC, I had to swipe some tickets and attend. I have to say, at first I was a little hesitant because I was going to be attending alone, but I really had nothing to worry about. The party was amazing, with great drinks and even better music. Before I knew it, I had made some new {geeky} friends and we were dancing, laughing and squee-ing together. Jamila was the absolute cutest (please check out her outfit for the night here – it was too perfect!) and I am honestly so bummed we didn’t snap a picture together. Why! Oh yeah….alcohol.
I took the last day of my trip to recover and just enjoy New York City. It was a gorgeous Sunday, so my friend and I decided what better way to close out the weekend then in true New Yorker fashion: the boozy brunch.
It’s been tough to readjust to not having another adventure just around the corner, but I am faithful life will surprise me soon enough with yet another one. Get to working on that, life!

I found plenty of panels to attend, but I guess it all depends on what you like! I know Image Comics had a party, and of course there was the Brimpers meet up which I heard was packed. Sounds like you had a great time though!

Oh I didn’t mean to sound like I had a bad time. Far from it! It was just a totally different feel from San Diego, which is the main con I’m used to attending.
