With 4 weeks to go until the arrival of our little one (at the time of this post, at least), I am happy to say that her nursery is complete! Granted, we still have some touches that we will add along the way, but for now, everything is looking nice and neat and as it should. The anticipation is definitely growing to meet our sweet little moon, and seeing her adorable face on the ultrasound today made me smile so hard. She’s absolutely beautiful! I can’t wait to hold that tiny body and look into those big (surely brown) eyes.ย But until then, we have her bright & fun nursery to share with you all!
We wanted to make sure Luna’s room was neutral so that we could play with a lot of pops of color to accessorize and decorate. We found this perfect light gray hue at Lowe’s and made sure all her furniture was white or close enough to it. Behind her crib, we had some fun with both regular and custom pieces from Etsy. As you can see, we sprinkled in a lot of moon references. ๐

This rocking chair is divine and I loved that it went so well with the rest of the room’s modern chic aesthetic. We wanted to throw in elements of fandom, starting with her namesake, so this Smashing Pumpkins pillow seemed like the perfect fit. You can see other fandom references scattered throughout this side of the room, such as the Doctor Who prints, Harry Potter legos & Baymax night light.
I have to give an incredible shout out to Minted for providing me with the majority of the prints you see on this gallery wall. In case you have not checked out their selection of nursery prints, you MUST. They have such unique and gorgeous pieces that would work well with any modern nursery decor. Best part is that Minted connects you with the best independent artists to bring you endlessly fresh, truly unique art, stationery, and home dรฉcor you wonโt find anywhere else. They are also a global community of independent artists. Theyย host ongoing design competitions to source new pieces/designs, and that is where the majority of my pieces came from. Each print came with a certificate of authenticity and a brief bio of the artist. I found this to be a really special little touch.

I knew I didn’t want a regular and boring changing table, and I’m so glad I stumbled on this great one from IKEA because it really helped us solve our storage problem as well since the room is so itty bitty. We were able to organize all of Luna’s clothes, accessories, bathing and changing needs thanks to this great Pinterest tutorial, and livened up the walls with some more beautiful art by some of our favorite local and non-local artists.
We also changed out all the knobs on the Hemnes dresser and bought our own. We mixed and matched 3 different set of knobs, but my favorites have to be the skulls! Who knew you could snag some sweet, goth touches at Hobby Lobby? Finally, I loved that we were able to incorporate this incredible rolling cart from IKEA. I had seen it used in so many ways, but loved the idea of it housing all of Luna’s accessories and toys, like shoes (I know – look at that overabundance), head bands and bows, and stuffed animals. Gotta work with the space you are given, right?

The closet was another challenge! As with the rest of the room, it is small so we had to think of a solution for it to give us the most storage. That solution was a little help from both The Container Store and IKEA. The Container Store supplied us with the shelving, and we used a Lack storage block from IKEA to finish with some bright yellow fabric boxes to store more toys and knick knacks. A hamper fit perfectly with the space that remained and all her clothes (yes, she has clothes up until 4t) quickly filled up the one rod.

Even our hospital bags are nearly packed! With only a few more weeks to go, it’s better to be safe than sorry (and I’m a planner). My absolute favorite item that I am packing? This card from Baby Milestones. Luna will be snapping a picture with it when she makes her big debut – we absolutely cannot wait!!!!! If you need inspiration on what to pack for your hospital bag, check out this Pinterest list I used for mine.
Little Lu, you are already so loved.
Mom, Dad & the rest of the crew are waiting anxiously!

My husband and I are trying to conceive and I cannot wait until the day it happens. I loved having a little peek into your nursery. Space is such a commodity these days and you’ve made the most out of yours while still keeping touches of your favorite fandoms. Also, Luna is such a pretty name!
