If there is one thing that proves to be stress relief in my life (even at almost 40), it is planning a good outfit. My excitement grows if it is fandom-related, so putting together outfits for cons has always been something I really relish in. Lately I’ve found myself trying my best to find as many pieces as I can that are already in my closet. You see, I don’t go out much any more now as a mama bear, but I continued to buy outfits for awhile as if I did. So I have so many gems that don’t really get to see the light of day already in my closet. It’s been an extra challenge and my wallet has really, really thanked me during a very busy traveling year (what possessed me, I have no idea) where every penny counts.
Throw in the fact that I had to plan a fun outfit to meet my favorite doctor (and possibly favorite human) for MegaCon Orlando, and I was super excited. What resulted was a very easy, but fashionable Whovian look with pieces I have worn before but never once together. I designed this very basic Doctor Who tee on a site many moons ago to wear to SDCC, and am obsessed with this super fun disco ball midi from Modcloth. I thought they looked perfect together and made the best comfy but stylish con outfit paired with chucks. I decided the outfit needed an extra omph, and added a fun hipster hat (that made me sweat profusely because Florida is scorching).
Tee; custom {similar site}
Skirt; Modcloth {no longer available)
Kicks; Converse
Hat; Forever 21 {similar}
Overall I think it was such a fun and understated way to represent my love of a fandom (and time lords in general).
Anyone else obsessed with midi skirts and knotted tees? Because sorry, not sorry, that’s gonna be my staple from now until the end of time.
