Everyone knows that you should get a new pillow every one to two years and a new mattress every eight years. But what about the bed frame you’re using? Even though there may not be a general rule for this piece of furniture, there are signs to watch out for that the frame needs to be replaced. Read on to find out what they are.
You Feel Tired When You Wake Up
After a long day, you should be able to unwind in the comfort of your own bed, a place where you can lay your head and get some much-needed rest. However, if you go to sleep feeling exhausted yet wake up feeling even more worn out than you did when you went to bed, there is either a problem with your mattress or the bed frame itself.
If your mattress is old and no longer comfortable, taking some time to find the best new one for you and picking out a mattress that will support you in the right way is worthwhile. This could make a huge difference. If your mattress is fine, it might be that your bed frame is sagging and not giving the mattress the support it needs to make you feel comfortable in bed. In this case, a new bed frame to match your good mattress will be required.
You Wake Up In Pain
This problem is similar to the last one. The support structure of your mattress may be to blame if you wake up with a stiff neck or sore back. Inspect the area of the bed frame that contacts the mattress for any signs of deterioration. Your aches and pains may be the result of damaged slats or related components.
If you’re not sure, start by changing your pillows first. These are much cheaper to replace than a bed frame. If this doesn’t help, you’ll need to move to plan B and start your search for a new bed.
Your Bed Is Noisy
Noises like squeaking joints and creaking wood aren’t pleasant at any time, but they’re especially disruptive when you’re trying to get some quality sleep. These distracting noises make it difficult to fall asleep or keep you awake all night.
If your bed is very noisy, it is likely that the bed frame is coming to the end of its useful life. When you buy a new one, look for something made out of solid wood, as these are built to last and are a better investment than cheaper beds. They’ll also look stunning in your bedroom.
It’s Time To Redecorate
Even if your bed frame seems fine for the moment, at some point it will need to be replaced, and if you’re redecorating your bedroom, the last thing you’ll want is an old, out of date bed taking up the focal center of the room.
If you’re going to replace the bed in the near future and you’re updating your bedroom, it makes sense to update the bed frame to go along with it.
