Holiday Cheer

The big day is literally around the corner, so I thought this sweet meme would be appropriate for the season!

scary-santa

Here’s the plan: People will comment ANONYMOUSLY with things they love and cherish about you. I say anonymously because it makes the atmosphere lighter and more mysterious, kind of like a Secret Santa only with love and holiday cheer! People will wonder who these caring people are and appreciate the fact that they exist.

Then find people you care about and have something nice to say to – even if you don’t know them! – and leave them something that will make their heart feel a little warmer at night. This way, the love will go around and around and the magical spirit of the season can be cherished and appreciated by all.

Don’t forget to pass the goodwill on to others and increase the flow of positive, caring energy!

I have a Santa hat – neener!
Those of you who have me on Twitter are no strangers to this pic and if you want to do the same with your own Twitter avatar, check out this site: http://www.technixupdate.com/get-santa-hat-on-twitter-avtar-picture/

& just because we are one measly day away from Friday, here is a new Melificent mixtape: Happiness is a Warm Mixtape. This mix was inspired from songs that make my heart smile and make me feel squishy. Basically, like an equivalent of a warm and comfy blanket. I hope you all enjoy it and that it carries you through to the weekend with a little more bounce in your step or at least a little more love in your heart.

Christmas Gifts for Foster Children

I know I may not get many comments on this blog, but from my stats, I see that a lot of people are visiting it. So I’d like to extend this opportunity to all of you  to do a good deed for a needy child.

As some of you may or may not know, I work with foster children. Every holiday season, we ask our family and friends to donate Christmas gifts since unfortunately this cost is not in our budget. I have been blown away previous years with the amount of people interested and willing to participate. A couple of years ago, our conference room was just full of amazing gifts – the children’s faces were priceless.

If you are interested in donating a gift to this cause, please leave your email address in the comments and I will email you with the children’s wishlists so you can choose an item.

Thank you!

xoxo

Holidaze

Halloween may be my favorite holiday, but it is quickly followed by my two least favorites: Thanksgiving and Christmas. I know what you must be thinking: what a grinch, but please, sympathize with me here. Is it not stressful as all get out? You hurry to buy everyone a thoughtful gift while braving the crowds only to go completely broke in the process and don’t forget the tree! And the ornaments! And have you sent those holiday cards out yet? Hurry! As if the monetary stress and impeding time crunch doom wasn’t bad enough, put your entire family in one spot and see what happens. Some kind of drama always ensues in mine. So that results in anything but holiday cheer.

However, I’ve tried my best to change my attitude this year. It has been a really good year for us, so I figure it is only fair to close it out in the same fashion (or at least attempt to). I am doing all my holiday shopping online this year, relying mainly on Etsy, and restricting my list to only immediate family. Sorry, friends, hope you understand. I’m pretty sure we give you enough alcohol during the rest of the year to make up for any nicely wrapped gift (wink, nudge). I’m also pretty sure our annual holiday party will be put on hold this year because I just do not have time (or funds), which should minimize some stress. Finally, I hope to go artificial this year in terms of my Christmas tree, opting for a more kitschy, fun and low-maintenance feel. For reference, check out my dear friend, Missy’s Christmas habitat.

So let’s hope I am successful. It really does not help that somehow stores have completely bypassed Thanksgiving and are already going full-throttle with Christmas. Uh, seeing Santa, trees and candy canes the day after Halloween really threw me for a loop.

What do you guys think? Do you like the holiday season? How do you manage to keep your sanity?
