If there is one thing that proves to be stress relief in my life (even at almost 40), it is planning a good outfit. My excitement grows if it is fandom-related, so putting together outfits for cons has always been something I really relish in. Lately I’ve found myself trying my best to find as many pieces as I can that are already in my closet. You see, I don’t go out much any more now as a mama bear, but I continued to buy outfits for awhile as if I did. So I have so many gems that don’t really get to see the light of day already in my closet. It’s been an extra challenge and my wallet has really, really thanked me during a very busy traveling year (what possessed me, I have no idea) where every penny counts.
What I Wore; Dream Big, Princess
That newfound love of Disney through the eyes of my child has given me a whole new fandom to explore in regards to outfits, and man, am I having fun. I love that you can wave your freak flag high and proud at Disney and no one bats an eyelash. In fact, it is encouraged. Whenever that is the case, I take this privilege and run with it. Case in point: I bought the most ridiculously large and loud Minnie ears and rocked them for the day at Magic Kingdom. I can’t wait to delve deeper into Disney fashion, but for now I can state with 100% certainty that comfy leggings are the way to go when you are visiting the parks with an insanely active toddler.

Boohoo #TBT Style Icon: Audrey Inspired
Everyone bases their style on someone, right? Sure, I love my geekery, but the basis for the way I style those geeky outfits, makeup, accessories and hair comes from the most perfect lady in the history of ladies: Audrey Hepburn. I like high waists, form flattering silhouettes and classics paired with tons of personality. I like high buns, cat eyed sunglasses and strong brows. But most importantly, I like the heart and soul behind the icon that was Audrey Hepburn, and hope I can portray even 1/4 of that with my own style and life.
That’s why when Boohoo asked me to recreate a style icon’s look using a dress from their immensely awesome dress line, I jumped at the chance. I think I chose the perfect dress that reflected what Audrey’s style would look like today, paired with a little Melificent on the side. The result? A whimsical shift dress paired with fun and kitschy accessories, and topped with Audrey’s iconic top knot (thanks Blo Coral Gables!). Plus, you know I had to throw a little geek in there – check out my denim jacket’s button details! 😉

What I Wore: Magical Chic
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I went on a romantical trip with my lovey to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter this past weekend. It was initially going to be Valentine’s Day weekend, but that was until we found it was a long weekend for kiddos: NOPE! We were graced with amazing weather (well, until our last day) and small crowds, making the parks a complete joy to maneuver. We did some serious shopping (look out for my next outfit posts), and just enjoyed each other…and the geekiness all around us. There’s just something geniunely magical about this place. After 4 consecutive days in the parks, I just didn’t want to leave. Now that we have annual passes, it looks like I won’t have to leave for long! Until next month!
With that said, I wanted to make sure I was comfy but still looking the part. This is where my love of leggings begins. They are just so easy, light and versatile. Just make sure to follow one tip: always make sure you are wearing a tunic top. At the end of the day, leggings are NOT pants. Please don’t wear them as such.

What I Wore: Ugly Christmas Sweater
I hope all of you had a great Christmas! The end of the year is upon us, and I am so happy to see it go. It has been a year of very high high’s and very low low’s. It often felt like I was riding a roller coaster that kept twisting, turning and dropping despite my requests to get off. But I stayed steadfast and here I am. For that, I am proud. I am trying to close this chapter of my life and start fresh in 2015, along with everyone else. This new year has a lot of promise so I am excited to see what paths it leads me down.
With that said, you can’t close out the year without rocking an ugly sweater at some point. It has become quite the trend, but surprisingly this was the first time I participated. I knew I had to find the right geeky kind of ugly, and was immediately drawn to this great Avengers one! It’s no secret I’m a Marvel girl, so I had to have it. I got a lot of compliments on social media for it, so I figured I would do a fun post featuring it and giving you all the chance to snag your own!
