What I Wore: Tropical Paradise

We’re pretty lucky in Miami. If we drive an hour south, we arrive in The Florida Keys, which is basically paradise. Nothing but blue skies and clear water where time just seems to stop. It’s my absolutely favorite place to be because I can disconnect from all my worries and stressors. The hubs and I haven’t been able to spend any time alone together lately, so it was nice to have a date day in such a beautiful setting.

The occasion obviously called for neons and floral prints. This summer I’m kind of obsessed with high-waisted shorts in loud patterns, so you may see these in many future posts. Sorry, I’m not sorry.

What I Wore: Minty Fresh

The days have been SO stunning here in Miami lately. Bright blue skies, a hint of a breeze and balmy humidity. It is the making of a great summer, and I can’t wait to see what it holds in store for me. Although my heart is still a little dark and stormy, I feel like a new beginning is right around the corner. Unfortunately, life has been more work than play lately, but I hope that will change in the months to come! Lots of vacations are on the itinerary!

This little dress is the absolutely perfect go-to for summer days. It’s light and easy, with such a fantastic pastel hue. In fact, I’d venture to say that it’s impossible to wear it without a smile on your face. Something else that will put a smile on your face? My friends over at YellowBox Footwear are sharing a promo code that will get you $5 off your next purchase of $50 or more: SHARETHELUV14!

Geek Out: Make Mine Marvel

Welcome to the blog’s newest feature, Geek Out! I put together many a nerdy outfit on a daily basis, so I figured, why not spotlight it on the blog! Plus, it ties in perfectly with my newest misadventure, The Fangirl Diaries. I think you can incorporate fandom/geekery into any outfit and make it as outrageous or subtle as you want. In this case, I decided with a little more subtle. I absolutely love all the fun nerdy crop tops that are popping up because it gives you the opportunity to still look trendy and sexy, while still expressing your love for certain characters. This Marvel tank is a perfect example! Paired with a glitter mini (who says glitter can’t be a neutral??) and some brightly colored wedges, you could go out for a night of dancing, a romantic dinner or to an art opening. Multipurpose!

What I Wore: Pineapples & Tattoos

Yep, officially summer time! We spent the weekend in the pool, running errands in the sun and recording our second podcast (don’t forget to check out The Fangirl Diaries). It’s time to whip out the shorts and….pineapples? Yep, it’s one of the summer’s biggest pattern trends, and I absolutely love it. It helps that it fits in perfectly with the Miami vibe! One of our Sunday errands was swinging by Ocho Placas, our favorite tattoo shop, to meet with the lovely Ms. Pooka to discuss our next tattoos. Details are under wraps right now, but I’ll make sure to share once we are newly inked in July! Hint: fandom!

What I Wore: Easter Sunday

My godson (& nephew) was out of town for Easter, so we didn’t have much to do. We are not overly religious people (both raised cafeteria Catholic), so the holiday surrounds this little guy and watching him pop open eggs that usually have some sort of small die cast car in them. This year is a little different – I packed his eggs full of Pokemon cards instead to give him at a later date. 😉

As a substitution, we had my mom over for wine and a hangout sesh. We were initially going to watch Catching Fire (my mom is a recent Hunger Games addict), but just never got around to it. We had way too much catching up to do! It was nice and relaxing, as well as reassuring. No matter how old you are, it always feels nice to have your mom hold your hand and tell you things will be and are better. Am I right?
