Weekend Highlights: Rock ‘n Roll Road Trip

Friday afternoon we started our road trip to see Muse (& U2) play Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium with some of our closest friends. I couldn’t have been more excited – it was my first live Muse experience and although I wish it would have been a headlining show, I was happy just to be in their presence for their 8-song set. They were mind-blowing. Matt Bellamy, if you are out there, I wouldn’t mind having your tiny powerhouse British babies. The set list was as follows:

Uprising
Map of the Problematique
Supermassive Black Hole
Hysteria
Undisclosed Desires
Unnatural Selection
Starlight
Time is Running Out

It was just incredible how much energy and passion they brought to the set despite being openers. They really gave it all they had and although we were one of the only people standing, screaming and dancing in our section, I had to smile when I overheard a few people commenting how “unreal” their performance was while waiting to buy merchandise. They are my beautiful little secret, but it still feels good to know that soon they will get the exposure they deserve. There are rumors that they will be headlining their first American tour sometime in 2010 and I really hope they make it down to South Florida because I plan on being front and center. I can’t tell you what a freaking tease their short set was – I was not ready for it to be over.

And for those non-believers, here is video footage of Map of the Problematique. I filmed their entire set, but this was one of the most steady mostly because I wasn’t the one recording – Elsie was sweet enough to take over for a bit so I could be a total fangirl.

Oh yeah, U2 also played. They were OK I guess ;)

Comic-Con 2010 Jitters

comiccon

So I woke up this morning to news that Comic-Con 2010, yes 2010 people, has run out of 4-day passes with preview night. What?! This is quite the problem. You see, I already got my plane tickets to San Diego but not my passes. I also leave tomorrow to Tampa and Orlando for both the Muse concert and Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival – leaving me with no extra money to spend on buying the remaining 4-day passes (these without preview night).

Good lord, what the hell happened? I remember Comic-Con not selling out until March this past year. This is ridiculous! Here’s to hoping that some will still be available next month when I’ll be able to snatch them up. If not, I guess it wasn’t meant to be!

Like I mentioned above, I’ll be leaving tomorrow for our rock ‘n roll road trip so there won’t be any blog posts for a few days – be good and I’ll be back next week with tales of our journey!

Comic-Con Recap: Sunday

Sunday left us with the whole day to shop! So we were able to explore the exhibit floor and find fun new artists to support. My favorite had to be Tara Mcpherson. I know she’s not a “new” artist, but she was new to me. Her work was absolutely beautiful. I was also lucky enough to meet Gris Grimly, another extremely talented artist that dedicated a book to my nephew. If you are a parent, definitely check out his whimsical & dark children’s books.

As we walked out of the convention center for the last time, I couldn’t help but feel this overwhelming sadness. My good time was over. It was beyond crazy and exhaustingly maddening, but it was the time of my life! It was at that moment that I decided I needed to come back next year.

So it’s already in the works! Can’t wait to continue the tradition next year and hopefully share it with all of you again (only better)!

Comic-Con Recap: Saturday

Oh Saturday. You were batshit insane and then some. But I loved every single second of you. If I could relive any day out of the 4, it would be you. Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?

I woke up at the butt crack of dawn (5am, to be exact) in order to secure a good spot at the LOST panel. When we arrived at 6am, the lawn was already slammed. We sat around, made new friends and played some trivia with the ODI. I also took a nice cat nap on the grass. Before we knew it, we were starting to move into Hall H for the last ever LOST panel. There were no words for the excitement I felt, but maybe this video could give you an idea:
