Favorite movie:
District 9
I knew I was going to love this movie when I attended the panel at Comic-Con, but I don’t think I was ready for how it would affect me. This movie was mind-blowing, not only with special effects, but also with its storyline and message.
Star Trek
Although not a trekker in the least bit, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Be it due to Zachary Quinto, J.J. Abrams or Zachary Quinto, I really don’t know. All I know is that it was absolutely entertaining and I didn’t mind watching it three times in a theater.
Favorite concert:
No Doubt; Cruzan Amphitheater
6.3.09
Besides being one of my favorite bands ever, No Doubt blew me away with their powerhouse performance and stage presence. I had never gone to a concert where I was so drenched in sweat and had such sore feet because I danced so much. The show just made me so beyond happy. I had a perma-smile for the entire duration of the concert.
Favorite guilty pleasure:
The Vampire Diaries on the CW.
Yeah, I jumped on that vampire bandwagon. And I’m staying on it thankyouverymuch. This is a really silly show, but it’s fun. And sometimes that’s all you need.
Favorite TV obsession:
Fringe
One of the smartest shows on TV in a very long time. Leave it to J.J.
Nurse Jackie
Absolutely addicting show that sucks you in with all its imperfect characters.
United States of Tara
Toni Collette is absolutely ridiculous in this show – her acting is top notch and the story is amazing. Definitely a topic (multiple personalities or dissociative identity disorder) that has not been explored on TV before. Completely intriguing to a psych major like myself.
Favorite album:
Muse – The Resistance
You guys are sick of hearing me sing Muse’s praises so I won’t say much just that this album really solidified how amazingly talented this band is. I could listen to it everyday all day and not tire of it.
The Dead Weather – Horehound
Wow. This album blew my mind in so many ways. If I were in a band, I’d want it to sound just like this one.
Favorite blog:
Making it Lovely
The most adorable home decor blog showing how a family “transformed the so-so” and made it lovely. Totally inspiring for a soon-to-be homeowner. I mean, check out her pink Christmas tree! Do want!
Favorite moment:
Meeting Gavin for the first time.
Silly? Maybe. Meeting someone you have loved for almost 14 years is quite the accomplishment in and of itself, but having him recognize you and interact with you on such a personal level is completely ridiculous. Sometimes I just re-play the moment in my head and am still astonished that it happened. Such a cool moment that I’ll never forget.
Attending Comic-Con 2009
Going on vacation with a bunch of your friends to a cool city is always going to be ridiculously fun. Add in a convention consisting of all your favorite tv shows, movies and artists and it is bound to be a memorable experience. I can’t wait for round 2 in 2010!
Finally being under contract for a home & on our way to becoming first-time homeowners!
Owning a home was a goal of ours almost all of of 2009. I went through a rollercoaster of emotions during house hunting: complete happiness, excitement, anxiety and total heartbreak. I felt like I just couldn’t do it anymore. And then it happened: we were under contract. The thought of finally having a home we can call our own makes my heart happy. I hope to be able to say “IT’S OURS!” in 2010.
