Best of 2010

It’s hard to believe that the year is almost over. It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2010 and welcome 2011 with open arms and a fresh outlook. But before we light the sparklers, fill the champagne glasses and partake in some midnight kisses, let’s look back at the best of 2010, through the eyes of Melificent:

Favorite movie:

Inception

Everything was so absolutely right about this movie. I loved the concept, the visuals, the actors. But you can’t expect anything less coming from director, Christopher Nolan.

Favorite concert:

Smashing Pumpkins; 7.20.10
Revolution; Ft. Lauderdale, FL

My favorite band finally felt like my favorite band again. Seeing this new line-up live completely blew me away. They were so powerful. So passionate. My love was reignited. Plus, I loved the intimate setting – from the front row, naturally. 😉

Bush; 10.14.10
Ritz Ybor; Tampa, FL

My 2nd favorite band, another intimate setting. An amazing road trip with equally amazing friends. Moments that I will take with me for a lifetime. A performance worth the wait.

Favorite guilty pleasure:

Lady Gaga

I never thought I would be closing out 2010 driving around Miami with my windows down, blasting Lady Gaga’s entire discography. But it’s my reality, folks. I’m on the Gaga train.

Favorite TV obsession:

Weeds

Sure, I had my usual suspects: LOST, Fringe, Glee, etc, but I thought I would mention a new show that stole my heart this year instead. Cue Showtime’s Weeds. The hubs & I had an all out On Demand marathon for weeks and are certifiably hooked on the Botwin’s. It’s true. We love you, Nancy.

Favorite album:

Vampire Weekend; Contra

Sure, there were other amazing albums in 2010, possibly better than this one, but Vampire Weekend’s Contra and its catchy little ditties made their way straight to my heart. It was the soundtrack to many a dance party (of one) in my bedroom.

Favorite blog:

Eat, Drink, Chic

This blog is everything I’d like mine to be: a little here, a little there, but full of personality and inspiration. Every blog post makes me smile. I can only hope to do the same one day!

Favorite moment:

Epicenter Festival; 9.25.10
Auto Club Speedway; Fontana, CA

You are probably wondering why this didn’t make the list for favorite concert, but it was because it was more about the magical moment than the show itself. I won tickets on Twitter to attend the Southern California festival, and as if that was not good enough, I was able to stand on the stage during Bush’s entire performance – the first time they had played as a unit once more since ’02.  It felt like an out-of-body experience and I will forever remember every second and how it made me feel.  I’m such a lucky girl.

Comic Con 2010; 7.22.10 – 7.25.10
San Diego, CA

Going to San Diego’s Comic Con as press this year is another moment I will remember as long as I live. Sure, I had been to multiple Comic Con’s before, but the experience you have while sporting a sweet press badge is completely different. I got to meet so many celebrities that I admired, attended a Dexter party with cast and writers, and was able to observe what it was like to be in a press room doing interviews. Although I was running on basically no sleep and only adrenaline, it was the most fun I have ever had. I have my fingers and toes crossed that this year I can score press yet again!
