Adventures in the Pink Room

Awhile ago, before we purchased our home, I started compiling photos that served as decor inspiration. The picture to your left was one of the first ones that grabbed my attention, planting the little seed in my brain that grew into lust to have my very own pink room. Sure enough, after we found the house of our dreams, I began planning a replica based on that one little photo. I’m happy to say that after a few trips to Target, IKEA and Homegoods, that room is finally starting to take shape.

I had been collecting artwork for some time now, picking up certain pieces that I knew would fit the vibe nicely on Etsy, during multiple visits to Comic-Con and random other stores. I was so excited to finally find frames for them all so I could display them around my amazing cardboard buck head. The prints featured above are by the ridiculously talented Tara McPherson and housed in frames from Target’s Room Essentials (RE) line.

I also was able to score some great items for the rest of the room from IKEA that are not pictured such as the Expedit shelving unit in white and the Trollsta side table in yellow (scored in the as-is section for a quarter of the price). These two will house the gaming portion of the room, including my Nintendo Wii and fully functional original NES system. Jealous? You know it!

All in all, I’m a pretty happy camper and totally stoked at how great everything is turning out. It’s a really great feeling to see your vision come to life – so satisfying! I can’t wait until we can officially start hosting game nights in the pink room – something tells me I might have to re-name it the romper room very soon in our future. 😉

Mel, the room is looking fabulous! I love the artwork you’ve chosen–seeing it reminded of a shop that my husband and I like a lot. It’s kind of far from you since it’s in central/northern Broward, but have you been to Tate’s Comics? It’s a wonderful comic bookstore in Lauderhill, and the comic book shop has a small art gallery attached to it upstairs called Bear and Bird Boutique & Gallery with some great art pieces; both are run by the same people but are treated as separate shops. I think you’d adore it, and it would be a great date spot for you guys in the future!

    The boutique’s site is http://www.tatescomics.com/bearandbird/index.html

If you already know these spots, my apologies 😉

Can’t wait to see it in person! We should do a photo shoot in there. 😉

    Thanks Mari!
I have been to Tate’s Comics but not for a very long time – it was before the art gallery was involved. Sounds like it is definitely worth visiting again!

Spring break is the plan. Just sucks that Dave never knows when he’s going to get a job. We should do up the Keyyys!
