Every second Saturday of the month, all the art galleries in Miami’s Design District open their doors to the public for free. I used to frequent the gallery walks years ago, but was really surprised to see this past weekend how huge the event has gotten. Food trucks line the street, amazing bands playing in every corner, free drinks and quality art. It only makes me wish there were more events like this in Miami on a regular basis! I had a great time with my friends and we are hoping to make this a monthly outing.
Spike TV’s Auction Hunters
I personally love auction shows. It’s always so amazing to see what relics people may be storing in their homes unaware of their value – gets you thinking twice about throwing out your grandmother’s hand-me-down rocking chair, huh? Anywho, two of the best “treasure hunters” in the business, Allen Haff and Clinton Ton Jones, will be back for a second season of Spike TV’s Auction Hunters starting next Tuesday, April 5 at 10pm/9c. The second season follows Haff and Jones across the country in their quest to win auctions, dig for abandoned historical treasure and sell them for a profit. Even better? They decided to start the season with a bang by visiting Miami in their first episode!
Great choice, boys! I can’t wait to see what they uncover in my hometown.
Lord knows we need some positive press after that Bravo housewife debacle (seriously, how terrible were they?).
Check out what the boys have in store for you this season:

I love me a good dose of home goods. You may think this love affair began when I bought my first house, but no. I’ve always loved to spend hours in any sort of home decor/crafting/design store from as long as I could remember. Decorating has always been a love of mine, starting from when I just had my own room in my mother’s home to renovate. So you could imagine my joy when IKEA finally opened its doors in South Florida a couple of years ago. In fact, I joke that the majority of my home is IKEA (but it really is), and that I should be made into some sort of brand ambassador because I am always singing their praises.
But wait.
What is this I hear?
The newly stationed CasaIdeas has moved into my neck of the woods?
I had to check it out.

I have a lot of creative and wonderful people in my life. One of them happens to be my good friend, Penn, of *Blank Photos. She is a South Florida photographer that mainly focuses on infants, children and families, but also shoots events and portraits. I asked her if she would be willing to shoot me for my blog redesign (coming soon!), and thankfully she agreed! I had a great time shooting both at a park across the street from my home, and at Green Street‘s back room in Coconut Grove.
In case you are interested, my makeup was done by the fabulous Llynette Shirazi, my outfits courtesy of Lazy Oaf and nail polish(s) were Essie’s Mint Candy Apple and Pansy.
Weekend Highlights
3/11 is not only 311 day (!!!), but also my mother and brother-in-law’s birthdays. Friday night we celebrated their birthdays at my sister’s house, and just had a generally good time with family. I personally loved my adorable outfit that night, but unfortunately, I forgot to take a quick full-length shot for the blog. Oops!
Saturday night, the 90’s never died. My friend, Bonnie, and I went to the Magic City Casino to see the Gin Blossoms and Sugar Ray show. Yeah, you read right. How could I resist? We had such a good time going back in time via music – Gin Blossoms were ridiculous, in a great way. They teased that at this point in their career, they would play anywhere. Don’t joke, ‘Blossoms. I do have a birthday coming up 😉
