YouTubin’: A Buzz Bag 2-4-1

It’s been a long time coming, but here’s a new unboxing video. I had a great time opening these babies up, as they are two of my biggest fandoms, and I’m sure you will be able to tell from the amount of squee-ing taking place.

Life has been rough, but I’m happy to say that things are slowly going back to normal. Luna was hospitalized for severe dehydration after an apparent stomach flu (I still don’t buy it) that spanned 10 days. It was an absolutely terrible experience that left me both drained and absolutely thankful for every little healthy moment.

With that said, I know that my regular blogging routine was disrupted, but the good news is that I’m back and ready to tackle the remainder of 2016.

Nerdy Must Haves

collage

Happy Meal Dress; I am absolutely in love with Bonne Chance dresses, even though I am yet to be able to purchase one. They have cute collars and kawaii designs, so what else do I need in my life? I especially love this quirky one because I often don’t get to eat fun things with all my allergies, so I opt to wear them instead as often as possible.

Potter Umbrella; In Miami, it is almost a necessity (no, no it is) to have an umbrella on hand at any moment. You never know when the sky is going to open up and ruin your day. The fact that I can have a Potter themed umbrella would make toting the enormous thing around worthwhile.

I Believe in Stardust; I am instantly drawn to anything mystical and magical in nature, so of course, I need this adorable pin from Ban.do. I love the simplicity and the pastel colors. I think it would look absolutely fabulous on my growing fandom jacket. Who says magic can’t be a fandom?

Anchorman Pencils; Who doesn’t love Anchorman? Watching this film is seriously one of the few simple pleasures in my life (no, I still have not brought myself to watch the train wreck of a sequel) and I love that some of its signature quotes are immortalized on pencils. This would be so great as swag for a Geek Girl Brunch!

Holiday Gift Guide

Guys. This is it.
The last day of November, which means that Christmas is officially upon us. I am lucky enough to have finished 96% of my shopping and can sit pretty, but I know a lot of you are still on the hunt, trying to find the best gifts for family and friends. If some of those on your list are of the geeky variety, then I’ve got a fun round up for you!

Minted: Holiday Card Reveal

img_2776

As you all probably remember, I teamed up with Minted to host a pretty killer giveaway. We had two lucky winners that snagged gift cards that basically gave them the opportunity to score free holiday cards! I picked up some cards of my own and I cannot wait to share them with you all!

I absolutely love that you can choose between three sizes because I honestly like more petite cards, so the smaller size was definitely my go-to. The quality is fantastic – the cards are sturdy and made of thick card stock. Plus, how can you not love that each design is made by an independent artist? We personally chose the Good All Year design by Amy Payne because it just fits with our lighthearted personalities. Plus, we knew we just wanted Luna in our cards this year (it’s hard enough to get her ready for a shoot, much less the three of us these days), so the more playful vibe worked great with a toddler picture.

What I Wore; Fantastic Beast

img_2648

The magic of the Harry Potter universe means a whole lot to me. I started reading the books when I met my now husband-then boyfriend. I immediately got hooked and Harry and his gang became my best friends while I went away to grad school alone, without knowing a soul in a new city. I have vivid memories of laying on my dorm room bed in the dark, completely transported to the world of Hogwarts. As the kids say, “it’s real to us.” That’s why this new film, Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them, had big shoes to fill. But I was so pleasantly surprised it did. And I’m pretty sure it filled 15 other shoes as well because it was brilliant. And magical. And made me feel every emotion possible. Can we just all agree on how great it is to have the wizarding world back with us?

With that said, I wore my very first LulaRoe purchase to see the film opening weekend, and I can understand the hype. I purchased a Cassie skirt, which is a form fitted pencil skirt. You guys know I like my ultra-feminine outfits, so this just seemed like it would be the best fit for my style. I paired it with a Gryffindor crop top, my fandom jacket, my new favorite booties + my wand, naturally. I mean, you didn’t think this witch would leave home without it, right? 😉
