Potter Heads

Chances are, if you read my blog, you are a part of some sort of fandom. And the chances, again, are pretty high that one of those fandoms is the Potter franchise. If you are a Potter fan (or Potter Heads, as we are called), there is a serious countdown in your agenda right now: the premiere of Deathly Hallows Part 1. The movie will be released on November 18th in both traditional and IMAX theaters, and I already have my tickets for opening weekend in hand! Not only will I be attending the movie itself, but I will be attending a themed party afterwards so it is imperative that I ditch that boring Muggle wear and pick up some wizard-worthy threads. Thankfully, I’ve found the Evietees Etsy Store! They carry all sorts of fun Potter gear that cannot be found in your run-of-the-mill, local Hot Topic assuring that you will be wearing a unique piece of Potter-dom. Accio fun!

Happy Hump Day: Justin Kirk

So I’m not really sure if I am in love with Justin Kirk, or the character he plays on Showtime’s Weeds: Andy Botwin. Either way, he’s absolutely adorable to watch on a weekly basis as the hilarious and goofy uncle in one of TV’s most dysfunctional (but lovable) families. He’s also best known for his role as Prior Walter in the screen adaptation of Angels in America, the very play Zachary Quinto is a part of currently in New York City! And thankfully he is not only sticking to Weeds, I’m sure a lot of you spotted him on Modern Family a couple of weeks ago and he is set to star in quite a slew of movies, such as Vamps, alongside Alicia Silverstone and Sigourney Weaver. Looks like Uncle Andy isn’t such a slacker after all! 😉

Things I wish we had: Farmers Markets

Farmers’ Markets are usually a staple for most cities, but unfortunately, that’s not the case in Miami. I love looking through all my blogs and checking out what my favorite writers discover, whether it be fresh and organic food products or absolutely stunning flowers, often leaving me pretty envious of their loot. Thankfully, this has begun to change lately and some markets are starting to spring up around town. However, not many of these are year round and the majority are quite a hike from our home.

One in particular, the Pinecrest Gardens Farmers’ Market, isn’t too far from us and just opened this past Sunday. It runs until May so I definitely want to make it a sweet weekend date for the hubs and I. I have been dying to have some fresh flowers in the house (I think they brighten up the mood so much & lord knows I need mood brightening lately) and hope I can find some quality ones there!

Hiatus

Melificent will be going on a brief hiatus, but we will be back – promise!

Lots of things are going on in my world right now, and unfortunately, the blog is going to have to take a backseat as I shift some priorities around. But do not fret! As the very wise Mrs. Potts once said:

“It’ll turn out all right in the end. You’ll see.“

Weekend Highlights: Halloween Edition!

This weekend was so much fun I could hardly stand it, but I didn’t expect anything less. It is no secret that I have a pretty serious love affair with Halloween and really enjoy dolling up for the festivities. Saturday night we had the annual AgencyNet Halloween party in their new digs. I finally unveiled my secret costume that I had been concealing for several months now – Maleficent! Thanks to the Academy of Glam, I was able to really perfect the look with some kick ass makeup. All other pieces were picked up randomly through Amazon stores and American Apparel. I’m really happy with the way the costume turned out and it was a little too fun to be evil for a night. Although, I have to admit that perfecting a villainous bitch face was tough!
