Rock Steady

1116

Unfortunately, as excited as I am to see No Doubt tomorrow, this closes out my concert season until October (when I’ll be seeing MUSE!) which makes my little musical heart very sad. And I want to give my sincerest apologies for the lack of cute boy today as it is Hump Day, but like I said – I’ve been playing catch up since returning from California and am still kind of settling back into the routine (regularly blogging being part of it). Hopefully I’ll be able to post a review on Thursday, but it will most likely be posted a little later than usual! And I promise I’ll be updating daily next week and have plenty of eye candy to share come next Hump Day. Deal? Deal.

So now to the show! No Doubt will be bringing their marvelousness to the Cruzan Amphitheater tonight in West Palm Beach, FL. I was lucky enough to score 10th row and center tickets so I am beyond stoked! Although I find Gwen’s solo records to be really fun, there is nothing like good old No Doubt to me. I’ve been a fan since I was 14 years old and this will be my second time seeing them live. The last time I saw them was probably about 7 years ago so this has been a long time coming! Best part? I get to share it with a No Doubt virgin: my husband! I love attending concerts with people that have never seen the band play – their reactions are always so amazing (well, when the band is amazing) & fun to watch. We’ll also be tailgating prior to the show so if you are going, join in on the pre-party 😉

ps; I better see some vintage Gwen push-ups tonight!
pps; Why are these adorable tees not available on the tour????

Back at Home!

I know I promised you guys pictures (& they are coming), but I am still trying to recover from our speedy California trip! I’ll say that it was great and made me want to move to the West Coast (as always), but I’m also really glad to be home! Unfortunately, I am really behind on household chores, school and work and those all take precedence over the bloggy blog right now so I’m going to have to put it on the back burner for today until I play some catch up!

However, I did catch the MTV Movie Awards last night and have to say that there were some pretty amazing moments. I’ll post more about those later, but I’ll leave you with something that made me genuinely fangirl: the New Moon trailer. Can I tell you how excited I am that they got Jacob’s transformation right? Because I literally jumped off the couch in excitement (& scared my friend & husband half to death). If you haven’t seen it or just want to see it again, here you go:

West Coast Bound!

I hope all of you had a great (& safe) Memorial Day weekend!

CA Trip 2003 (please excuse the trucker hat)
CA Trip 2003 (please excuse the trucker hat)

I’ll be leaving (on a jet plane) tomorrow to Northern California to visit family for a few days so unfortunately, I will not be updating the blog until next week. When I return, I’ll make sure to post a lot of pictures & a lot of stories. I can never get enough of California so I am beyond stoked for the trip! I’ll also be re-reading Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince while traveling so that I am fully prepared for the movie in July – nerd alert, I know!

Once again, I’m sure I’ll be tweeting throughout the trip, so make sure to check out @SoMelificent for all the action!

I will miss you all!!!

Lovable Friday!

1. Trip to California!
1. Trip to California!

Next week the hubs and I will be heading to the west coast to join in the festivities for his cousin’s high school graduation in Folsom, CA. Although we will only have one day to enjoy the amazing-ness that is San Francisco, I will take it! The hubs grew up in the Bay Area so no doubt his heart strings will be pulled hard and tight – can’t make any promises that we will want to come back! 😉 This also means that Melificent will be devoid of any posts next week, so try not to miss me too much! Hopefully I’ll return with some great posts about my trip. On an aside, I have no idea what to pack for our day in SF! This Miami girl does not know how to handle drastically changing day-to-night weather! Yipes!

Gavin Rossdale Concert

So this has been a pretty Gavin-centric week on Melificent, huh? I don’t hear any of you complaining so I’m going to carry on with what I thought about his show at the House of Blues Tuesday night. First off, can I express how much I loathe all Orlando venues? Every time I have gone to see a live act in any of their theme park venues, they do not allow any kind of cameras or video. I understand the video aspect, but cameras? C’mon man. It’s just silly at this point (so please excuse my crappy iPhone shots). Plus, the House of Blues decided to take themselves one more notch douchier by having us all wait in the torrential rain for the doors to open. Thanks for that, guys.

However, the show was outstanding and more than made up for being sopping wet from head to toe. Gavin’s opening act, Nico Vega, was a pleasant surprise. This year, I have managed to experience some of the worst openers ever in the shows I have attended, so I can’t say I was expecting anything better this time around, but I was definitely proven wrong. Nico Vega’s front woman, Aja Volkman, has a voice that could power the entire venue. It’s just amazing. Plus, the small trio packs one hell of a punch when it comes to stage presence. I loved every second of her skirt-whipping and frenzied performance. Check out this neat video of Medicine Man as well as their self-titled album, Nico Vega, on Myspace Records.
