Spotlight: The Sofia Valeria Collection

Cute Clippies!
Cute Clippies!

I am fortunate enough to have a very talented and creative group of friends. One in particular is Nadia. She is a student, mother, wife, teacher and owner of The Sofia Valeria Collection. Can you say multi-tasker?

Her line ranges from wall art to adorable clippies, all of which can be found in her Etsy store. She is constantly having sales and special offers so definitely check it out for those little ones in your life!

And as if that wasn’t enough cute in your life, Nadia just announced that she is going to begin a big girl’s line! That’s right, big girls like you and me can get in on the adorable train! After hearing some of her ideas yesterday afternoon, you will not be disappointed – they are going to make some great & sassy additions to your outfits!

So support local DIY art & give Nadia and the SV Collection some lovin’!

The Twitterverse

On my old blog, I did a very quick post about my participation on the social networking site, Twitter, but I think it has definitely blown up since then and needs further attention. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m a huge fan of social networking (obviously) and Twitter has drastically morphed since the first day I joined a couple of years ago (I deleted my account because literally no one I knew was on it). I rejoined last year and have loved watching it become the mecca of information and interaction that it is today.

One of my favorite aspects? The influx of celebrities that have taken over Twitter and realized its potential to further connect them to their fans. There is something about reading “I just pooped” coming from one of your favorite musicians to make you realize that yes, we are all human.

One of my favorite shows, Heroes, has definitely taken it to the next level. Castย  member and general mind-reader extraordinaire, Greg Grunberg, heads up this band of merry Twits often updating with pictures from the set, ranch-loving tales or the random YOWZA! His cohorts include other cast members, makeup artists, writers and prop masters just to name a few. Thanks to the constant tweets, the show has been able to get direct feedback after each episode from its legions of fans. The best part? They interact right back with you! It’s a great time to be a fan, people. Even the LA Times agree.

Are you curious as to which famous faces I follow? Wonder no longer.

Vicky Christina Barcelona

This past weekend Augi and I watched Vicky Christina Barcelona and were blown away. Besides being an amazing story with fabulous actors, the scenery was breathtaking. It basically made us want to impulsively find airfare to Spain and throw whatever clothes we found into a suitcase. Seriously, I checked and found some pretty good deals, I must say. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I also loved how almost all the characters were dressed head to toe in linen. Living somewhere as hot and humid as Miami, I’ve always been a fan of light & airy linen shirts & pants but unfortunately no longer have any pieces in my wardrobe. After watching VCB, it made me want to look as effortlessly comfortable yet stylish as both its female and male characters.

Stick Shifts & Safety Belts

2951688721_fbfe3e0d15_oThis is my father-in-law’s 1977 Chevy Custom Deluxe. And we love it.

It’s become kind of a ritual for the hubs and I to take it Friday through Sunday every week. This weekend was especially awesome because we decided to drive it to Broward to spend the day with friends, which marked the farthest we had ever driven it together.

Coming from a family where cars are a big part of our lives, I find riding in vintage cars so special. The way they drive, the way they smell, the manual mechanics…all these things may be big detractors for others, but they never cease to make me smile. There was something almost hopelessly romantic about driving with my husband down the freeway with the wind blowing through our hair as we bounced up & down on the bench seat listening to our favorite tunes. It felt like we had been transported to another time. It was nice. It was easy. It was simple.

Lovable Friday!

1. Twilight Shirts

All of you know by now (thanks to last week’s Lovable Friday post) that I’m a Twilight fan and although I do play the part of crazy fangirl, I don’t like the cheese that comes along with it. When I fangirl, I like to do so with class and these shirts from Spreadshop do the trick and then some! Their simple listing of names for each “family” whether it be the Cullen’s, Quileute’s or Volturi are a pretty immediate indicator as to your “team” when it comes to the Twilight series. They don’t stop at families either. More of a fan of emotionally complex love triangles? Check out their Bella&Jacob&Edward shirt. Which one am I picking up? The Cullen family, of course.
