Life with Luna: Mini Time Lord OOTD

w&w

Luna has finally started to grow out of some newborn clothes, which means we can start having more fun with her wardrobe (lets face it, NB clothes isn’t the hippest)! I love fun, hip baby clothes as much as the next mom, but obviously I’m always shopping around for fandom related threads for my little one. This is a way harder feat than you would imagine – especially if you want these baby clothes to still be fashionable and trendy. That’s why I nearly passed out when I discovered Willow + Wither while on an Instagram rabbit hole (what I call clicking on one account, that leads to another, that leads to another…).

Kara has the most amazing fandom-inspired baby clothes you have ever seen! From Doctor Who to Supernatural, she covers all the bases in the most geek chic way. And she doesn’t stop at baby clothes – she also makes most of her pieces in adult sizes, which means you can rock some seriously geeky mommy and me outfits! I’m so glad she was willing to send me a few of her TARDIS pieces so that I could show them off on little Ms. Luna. I have to say, she looks pretty spectacular as a pint-sized time lord, don’t you think?

Nerdy Must Haves

collage

1. Leslie Knope tee; I am such a huge fan of Parks and Recreation. I started watching when I became pregnant with Luna and just recently finished the series (if it weren’t for severe sleep deprivation, I would have sobbed like a baby). Since I was a late adopter, I don’t have any Parks and Rec merchandise yet, but I’d totally like to change that with this adorable tee from Kate Gabrielle. I honestly don’t understand any woman who doesn’t believe Leslie is their spirit animal, with her perfect party planning skills, compassion and forward thinking.

2. Marvel PJ’s; Target is really killing it with the geek wear lately. Between their collaboration with Star Wars, and now these incredible Marvel PJ’s, trips have become increasingly tempting for my wallet. There are a whole series of these sleep sets, but this one is my favorite. Unfortunately, it looks a little toasty for the South Florida weather, but I think it would be a perfect Christmas morning outfit!

3. Luna cat hair bow; You guys must be so sick of all my Sailor Moon paraphernalia, but I have to be honest: it’s never going to stop. I just can’t get enough of magical girl anything, so you are stuck staring at Luna cats and brightly colored compacts and wands forever. Sorry, not sorry. This bow is no exception. I love that it’s the perfect size to rock in front of a large top knot, which is my new favorite hairdo since becoming a mommy (I miss the days of hair straightening and curling irons).

4. Moon Prism Power Embroidery; Cross stitch is all the rage these days, and I love that it is slowly seeping into the geeky domain. Naturally, this one grabbed my attention right away. Not only is it a Sailor Moon reference, but it also reminds me of my little Luna girl, and I think it would look great in her room. Definitely look around her Etsy store if you want to find more fun and geeky designs, like this Star Wars one!

Life With Luna: 1 Week

IMG_6068 copy

It’s pretty hard to wrap my head around the fact that it’s been a week since I gave birth to my little girl (at the time of this post). It seems like only yesterday that I was in that hospital bed wondering what you would look like and if you would be healthy and strong. You have defied all odds since. An amazing eater, a peaceful sleeper, an all around incredible baby. I find myself just staring at you as you sleep, and thinking how I could have possibly gotten so lucky to have such a magical little being in my life that I get to call my own.

Every day I worry: I put you in warm clothes, wrap you in 2 blankets, and always make sure you are wearing a hat to maintain your body temperature so that you don’t expend all your calories trying to keep warm. I can’t sleep when you sleep because I always have to have an eye on you (whether it be myself or Daddy). You smile from gas, but we like to think it is genuine. You love it when we laugh, hold you close and play you music.

I’d like to join the masses and say this transition has been super difficult and that we are in “baby boot camp,” but honestly, I thought it would be worse. I am happy to stay up and be sleep deprived if it means I get to look at your face. You have brought your Dad and I even closer after last year’s struggles. I value family more. All in all, you are the best thing I have ever done.

Nerdy Must Haves

musthaves

Today’s must haves list is a little bit longer than usual, but I haven’t done one in so long that my wishlist only continues to grow longer and longer. I’m sure none of you are complaining (but your wallets may be…).

1. Unicorn Flats; I am trying my absolute best not to flail and hit the add to bag button on these absolutely perfect pair of mythical beasts. How flippin’ adorable are they? I already have a pair of kitty face flats, so these would naturally keep them company, right?

2. Pixel Heart Clutch; Talk about geek chic! This little pastel clutch would be the perfect accessory for a daytime wedding or a first date. I would personally wear it with a cute, swing-y dress while walking around Wynwood and enjoying some brews. Basically, the options are endless and so are the reasons you need it!

3. TARDIS umbrella; I’ve become such a sucker for adorable umbrellas lately. It’s understandable since they are a necessity with our unpredictable South Florida weather, but at times, the cuter the umbrella, the more useless it is. What I like about this one is that it seems like an appropriate size and looks to be sturdy. Too bad the price tag is a liiiiiiiitttlle steep.

My Geeky Dream Workspace

I am an independent contractor in every sense of the word. Even though one day I’d like to be a business owner (girl bossin’), at the moment, I don’t have an office and work mainly out of my home or am on the road servicing clients at theirs. The blog also has me working out of bed most days, and I let the hubby take our extra room for his office space (after all, I took all the closet space). Lately I’ve been dreaming of having my own workspace and where it would be or what it would look like. I love the idea of coworking spaces, like the one my husband works at. WeWork is another fantastic option, and they just opened a location here in Miami on South Beach (and all over the world). Although driving the 30-45 minutes it usually takes to get to the beach from my home doesn’t sound super appealing, the thought of having my own personal space to get things done privately and without interruption does!

So how would I make my space fit my style?
