Megacon Tampa Bay was full of really amazing moments, but what drew me to the convention in the first place was David Tennant. If you are a Doctor Who fan, or whovians, as we affectionately call ourselves, you have your doctor. I actually had a hard time getting into the show, and it wasn’t until the 10th doctor that I started my love affair. Everyone has this moment. Everyone loves one doctor that gives them the warm fuzzies. The one you want to run away with on a TARDIS in all wibbly wobbly timey wimey-ness. David Tennant is that for me.
What I Wore: Chris Pratt Fangirl
I’m sure you have seen the hilarious fangirl tees that you can purchase on Look Human. I made fun of them at first because they seemed ridiculous, but you know what? They make me laugh and instantly make an outfit more lighthearted while still displaying your fandoms. Plus, they are definitely conversation starters. I like pairing them with something other than jeans to create a more kitschy and fun vibe. My bump had me repurpose this tutu midi skirt into a dress and I threw the tee over it. Adding the polka dot sneakers made it more whimsical, which is the look I wanted to go for and tend to go for on a daily basis. Plus, it makes it much more comfortable for these sensitive pregnant feet!
I have a huge crush on Chris Pratt that has only grown exponentially since becoming a total Parks & Rec fan. Add Guardians and Jurassic World to the mix, and I am beyond hooked. I don’t know if I want to make out with him or be his best friend, which signifies the perfect relationship, right? Call me, Chris (sorry hubs).

5 Fandom Friday: Fandom Guilty Pleasures
This was a tough one. After all, what is classified as a guilty pleasure? Something you are embarrassed to like? Chances are, what is embarrassing to me is not to you, so this may be a little hard to nail down. I also wasn’t sure if it had to be traditionally “fandom,” so I just threw in everything I kind of feel ashamed to love. 😉
1. My Little Pony; OK, so I’m not necessarily ashamed to love this show, but since it is a cartoon geared towards little girls and I’m a grown adult, it could be viewed as silly. I’ve watched countless documentaries on the “Brony-life” and have collected ponies since I was a child. I actually have a little tote bag full of original 80’s ponies that I’m going to pass on to my daughter. I don’t even want to look at how much some of them may go for on eBay. Because sentiment is worth more, right?
5 Fandom Friday: Five Times I Totally Fangirled
I’ve been lucky enough to have a lot fangirl encounters over the past few years, so it was honestly tough to pick just 5 instances. Pro tip: if you want to increase your fangirl moments, just attend San Diego Comic Con. You are sure to make memories for a lifetime.
1. Meeting Gavin Rossdale for the first time.
I honestly can’t believe I’m allowing this terrible picture of me to circulate but I had to use a photo from the actual moment that this happened because it was magical. I’m a huge BUSH fan and have been since I was a teenager in the 90’s. I was pretty sure I was going to marry Gavin Rossdale and went through a brief period of hating Gwen Stefani for taking my place (I have since moved on). Naturally, I would tweet at him once he discovered social media and would squee with delight when he would tweet at me back, but nothing compared to actually meeting him after a show in Orlando. He actually recognized me from all the photos I had been posting on to Twitter (these were the pre-Instagram days) and remembered my name (?!?!) – it was so surreal. He was such a sweetheart and it really was a shame that it rained on us for hours making my styled hair and flawless makeup go to shit for this amazing photo. Despite how awful I may look (& how angry G seems to look), it never fails to make me smile because I remember walking away and actually jumping up and down like a little girl and not being able to wipe that stupid smile off my face for DAYS.
Nerdy Must Haves
Who Leggings; Leggings are a girl’s best friend. Why? They are easy to pack, feel like you are wearing pajamas and come in all sorts of fandoms. What’s not to love? Personally, I’m all about this new pair from TeeFury. Although I’m not the happiest with their sneaker line (dude, lay off the priciness), this new line of leggings is spot on. I wish I would have been able to snag a pair before next weekend’s MegaCon! Boo hoo.
Gryffindor Tee; This is one of the better designed house shirts I’ve seen in awhile. I love the large house animal combined with each house’s characteristics. Naturally, I chose my own house to showcase, but fear not. They come in all houses, shapes and colors (er, maybe). It’s also temporarily on sale so treat yoself while you can!
Potter flats; OK, so there is going to be kind of a theme during this post of must haves. I am completely and utterly obsessed with this beautifully designed flats from Electrique Sole on Etsy. Considering the prices I’ve seen for other custom shoes, they are a steal at $45 and are completely adorable. Again, I wish I could have scooped up a pair for Megacon, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to take advantage and order them for April’s first Geek Girl Brunch!
Hogwarts T-Shirt Dress; Another great Potter find. This shirt dress looks so comfy and the perfect addition to any convention wardrobe. Just pair it with a denim jacket and some cute sneakers and you are good to go. Added plus? You can rock this adorable look for Sunday brunch, running errands or date night! It’s so versatile and subtle. A total score if you ask me.
