Weekend Highlights

satIMG_0389

On Saturday, the hubs and I made it out to West Palm Beach for our friend, Joshua’s, annual holiday party. We got to hang out with our buddies and his two adorable sons, who were the life of the party. Plus, we got the most amazing party favors: fake moustaches! It really doesn’t get any better than that. Must make a mental note to pick some of these up for our next shindig – they were the biggest hit! And the perfect end to my night was making it home in time to see Muse perform their last song, Starlight, on SNL. They were amazing, as usual, and only made me covet a Florida tour date even more!

The rest of our weekend was spent doing errands and showing our family the house we may be living in come next year. Exciting stuff, people!

This will be a short week for me (thankfully) & I hope some of you were able to score some vacation days as well to spend with your loved ones. It’s almost Christmas time, everyone! And that means we are closer to it all being over!!! What a relief that will be. 😉

xoxo

Holidaze

Halloween may be my favorite holiday, but it is quickly followed by my two least favorites: Thanksgiving and Christmas. I know what you must be thinking: what a grinch, but please, sympathize with me here. Is it not stressful as all get out? You hurry to buy everyone a thoughtful gift while braving the crowds only to go completely broke in the process and don’t forget the tree! And the ornaments! And have you sent those holiday cards out yet? Hurry! As if the monetary stress and impeding time crunch doom wasn’t bad enough, put your entire family in one spot and see what happens. Some kind of drama always ensues in mine. So that results in anything but holiday cheer.

However, I’ve tried my best to change my attitude this year. It has been a really good year for us, so I figure it is only fair to close it out in the same fashion (or at least attempt to). I am doing all my holiday shopping online this year, relying mainly on Etsy, and restricting my list to only immediate family. Sorry, friends, hope you understand. I’m pretty sure we give you enough alcohol during the rest of the year to make up for any nicely wrapped gift (wink, nudge). I’m also pretty sure our annual holiday party will be put on hold this year because I just do not have time (or funds), which should minimize some stress. Finally, I hope to go artificial this year in terms of my Christmas tree, opting for a more kitschy, fun and low-maintenance feel. For reference, check out my dear friend, Missy’s Christmas habitat.

So let’s hope I am successful. It really does not help that somehow stores have completely bypassed Thanksgiving and are already going full-throttle with Christmas. Uh, seeing Santa, trees and candy canes the day after Halloween really threw me for a loop.

What do you guys think? Do you like the holiday season? How do you manage to keep your sanity?

Lovable Friday: Halloween Edition

lovablefriday1

I hope everyone has a fantastic Halloween weekend! I, for one, cannot contain my excitement. My costume is ready to go and I’ll be back Monday morning with a kick ass round up of our festivities. Have a great time everyone, but remember to be safe. I’ve put together some fun Halloween-themed items to share with you all!

For all of you who are planning to have a Halloween dinner party sometime this weekend, these adorable DIY placemats would definitely make a statement! One of my favorite designers, Eddie Ross, featured these cuties along with instructions on how to make your own on his blog. So strap on your craft hat and get to work, procrastinators! 😉

Halloweenie

Halloween is my most favorite holiday ever. What other holiday allows you to tap into your inner child and revel in a fantasy world? In fact, one of the main moments I am looking forward to the most when we get our own house is when I get to decorate it for Halloween and host the most amazing parties ever (well, that one is in general). Since the “big day” is only 18 days away, I figured I would gather some of my favorite Halloween party decor and ideas! I can’t wait to put them to use one day in the near future (gotta stay positive!).

Weekend Highlights

I hope you all had an amazing Fourth of July weekend complete with food, booze, friends and family. I know we did! Having to start a new (full) week is really going to be difficult!

Friday night we held our much anticipated RockBand party, which was a hit. Despite a now broken cymbal pad on our drum kit and a few shattered beer bottles, I’d like to say it was a success! Everyone wore their best rockstar eyeliner and I spent 20 minutes teasing my hair (only for it to wimp out 10 minutes later). We have a ridiculous amount of liquor/beer left over so I do believe another party is in order. Maybe a pre-Comic-Con slumber party? 😉
