Going to Abraxas Lounge for my birthday definitely was not enough! I absolutely love that place so I put together a happy hour there on Friday night. Although our bartender was a hater, you just can’t beat the ambiance and killer beer selection. What made it even better? I got to spend time with friends that I haven’t seen in ages! Plus, I made some great new ones in the process. After a few beers, we headed to 8oz Burger Bar for dinner (pure excellence – check it out, foodies!) and then danced the rest of the night away at Automatic Slims. It was altogether a pretty fabulous night. A do-over is needed.

Lovable Friday
As you can tell from yesterday’s post, I love stumbling upon blogs of talented people that also happen to enjoy life to the fullest. A perfect example is Jessica Claire. Jessica is a wedding photographer who mixes personal posts along with her professional ones on her blog. One amazing post revolved around her 30th birthday, which she celebrated by holding an epic game of kickball with all her closest friends. Uh. Amazing. So much so that I hope Jessica doesn’t get insulted because I’m totally ripping off the idea for the hubs’ birthday this year. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? 😉
Lin & Jirsa
Everyone knows I’m an avid Twitter user. I am its biggest fan, but I can also get pretty annoyed with the seemingly odd strangers that decide to follow me (sexbots excluded). This past week, the opposite happened. Instead of some weirdo, an amazingly talented person decided to follow me: Christopher Lin of Lin & Jirsa Photography.
His company was voted the best wedding photographers of 2009 by MyFOXLA Hotlist and after looking through their blog, I can understand why. I know I’ve been married for almost 2 years now, but I cannot stop myself from checking out wedding photography blogs, wedding decor inspiration and even wedding dresses from time to time. I am just a sucker for event planning. So for all of my readers that are planning their wedding, planning someone else’s wedding, an event or are just a fan of pretty pictures, take a gander at their portfolio.
My favorite recent picture of theirs has to be the one above of a wedding that took place in a home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Are you kidding me? Flipping amazing.
Thanks for the add, Christopher!
Happy Hump Day: Ryan Kwanten
Unfortunately, I will always refer to this guy as JASON STAAACKHAAAAAUUUZ. Ryan Kwanten (I like my rendition better) plays Sookie’s dense & promiscuous brother, Jason Stackhouse, on HBO’s True Blood. Although his character is dumb as a doorknob and occasionally a really big jerk (he’s been redeeming himself this season), you can’t deny his good looks. Plus, did you know that he’s Australian? Don’t believe me? Hear for yourself right here. In Melificent’s world, that gives you 20 bonus points off the bat. Enjoy the goodies, ladies!
Tune-age Tuesday
I figured it had been entirely too long since I had put together a mixtape to share with all of you. Plus, I’ve heard through the grapevine that a lot of you out there favor my husband’s mixtapes over mine. I just cannot let that happen. 😉
It’s a mix of old and new, as every good thing should be. I hope you all enjoy it and I hope I managed to turn some of you on to some great new (or old) artists. I’ll make sure to start posting these a little more regularly…maybe quarterly or so that you guys can get an idea of what I’m listening to! After all, music is the glue of the world.
