Unfortunately, I couldn’t enjoy my long weekend to the fullest because I came down with a pretty nasty cold mid-week. Thankfully, resting all Friday by calling in sick from work helped me feel well enough to hit the road Saturday night to attend the grand opening party for Pink Ghost, a great vinyl toy and art store (among other things). The store used to be located across the street from my hubby’s office in Las Olas, but recently made the move to Hollywood Circle, which from what I hear (I’m not that familiar with the area) was a good choice. We were so happy for the owners (we’ve developed a close relationship with them) and were blown away with the turn out! I picked up an adorable autographed “chubby book” illustrated by Helena Garcia, who was gracious enough to attend the party and sign her work. For those of you who dig this kind of merchandise and are local, definitely make your way over to Pink Ghost – the items are fun, the people are friendly and the location is ace! All win, all the time. Their new location is:
1888 Polk Street
Hollywood, FL 33020
Sorry for the mismatching fonts! I have to transfer all my fonts from my old computer to my new laptop and it’s been a slow process. So here’s a little bigger, little messier Monday for you 😉
After taking another slow day on Sunday, I was able to finally feel about 90% better from my cold and head over to my sister’s house for her annual Labor Day pool party/BBQ. We spent some quality time with the family and also got to have our friends, Elissa, James & Chris, join in on the fun this year! Thankfully we got some great weather and were able to spend the entire time either eating outside on the patio or hanging out in the pool throwing heavy objects at each other (of course I was the only casualty of the day). We completely intended on post-partying at our place afterwards, but everyone was completely wiped out and we basically called it a night. Does this mean we are getting old?
Don’t answer that question.
I hope the rest of you had an amazing (& safe) holiday weekend! Let’s hope this short week flies by & that Friday gets here before we know it! 😉

Meli!
Don’t give up on the house hunt! It’s tough but you’ll find a place. I will tell you about our dramaz that we went through and maybe you’ll feel better 🙂
House One-Fell in love-HUGE MISTAKE. Short sale, put an offer in, offer was already pending on the house, the guy couldn’t get financed, waited a few days, guy gets financed, lose dream house. In between we also switch agents.
Saw 5000 other homes and found a awesome one, great yard, great view, nice upgrades, 4 bedrooms. WHO NEEDS 4 bedrooms?? WHO CARES?? Put in offer, real estate agent calls, GREAT NEWS! They accepted your offer!!! Two days later, after being promised a signed contract we find out that the seller’s agents had LIED to us. My real estate agent had to go to the homeowner’s HOUSE and KNOCK ON THE DOOR because she couldn’t get a hold of them seller’s agents. Apparently, they were putting up the house for sale to appease the lenders but are trying to refinance/modify their mortgage. The seller’s agent says ‘oh when I told you it was accepted, I thought you were someone else!’ There has been a formal complaint filed against that agent.
Our friend puts her place up for sale, I had to convince my fiance it was okay to buy a friend’s house if it’s a short sale, she put it up for sale for a reason! Real estate agent ran comps of the area, we put in an offer and we wait. Last Tuesday, the ceiling in the second bathroom caves in due to cracked roof tiles and the insane amount of rain we’ve been getting. On Wednesday, we find out that our contract was accepted! Hooray! BUT we can’t get financed until the roof is repair.
So here we are. I haven’t even gotten excited yet. We have a closing date set but SO MANY THINGS can happen. We’re SOOOO close. Don’t give up on your house hunt. You will find something that will be perfect for you and your family <3
OH HEY PAOLA & ANDREA!! Sorry we couldn’t make it, we will have to come see the new store soon and I think Pancho misses me.

Andrea & Paola – I wish you all the best! Glad you enjoyed the post 🙂
James – you suck. No seriously, that was some amazing meat. Glad you guys were able to make it out!
“Glad” seems to be my word of choice tonight.
