I know that I had mentioned that I was mad at Billy Corgan for his “relationship” with Jessica Simpson (he now states he was only spending time with her because he was doing the theme song for her new VH1 show…hmph), but I can never be mad at his music. So far, the two new releases off the Smashing Pumpkins’ new album, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, have been amazing as usual. They are being released for free (you can download them here), but knowing that there will be those rabid fans that need a physical release to cherish for years, Corgan decided to have special edition box sets. The first one will be available on April 20th and is now available for pre-order. Each box contains a 4-song CD, a 7″ vinyl single (containing a new song and a B-Side), and a hand-carved “leopard stone” obelisk, about 2″ tall, similar to marble (??). You know I’ll be placing my order!

GIVEAWAY: Melissa Auf Der Maur
I’m really proud to announce my first giveaway since starting Melificent a year ago!
I was contacted by the great people at Filter Magazine, one of the best indie rock publications in America, to share some great new music from one of my personal fav’s: Melissa Auf Der Maur.
I had the pleasure of both seeing Melissa perform live as well as having a lengthy chat with her several years ago. She’s such a sweetheart and really cares about her fans. She also happens to be a complete rock goddess the second she takes that stage. That’s why I’m so excited for her new album, Out of Our Minds, which will be released on March 30th. The album promises to be amazing on its own, but is accompanied by a 28-minute HD film conceived by Melissa herself (which she stars in as well). There will even be limited edition comic books and matching picture disk vinyls to complete the extensive multimedia project!
Sounds cool?
Check out the music video for her first single off the album, Out of Our Minds (OOOM):
Now onto the good stuff!
This giveaway is for:
1 copy of Out of Our Minds on CD
I MadM t-shirt
Please leave your name in the comments & why you love Melissa & her music!
The contest will remain open until March 4th when I will pick the winner at random.
Thanks for playing & I hope to feature more fun giveaways in the future!
Happy Hump Day: Paul Wesley
I’m missing my Vampire Diaries a little too much, so I figured I would get my fix and also make some readers very happy! I’m more of a Damon kind of girl, but I know a lot of you have requested a little Stefan Salvatore. So here you go, ladies. Enjoy some hump day joy in the form of Paul Wesley! Edward who?
It’s Swimsuit Season!
Or at least pretty damn close, right?
Usually this is a time of year that makes most females cringe, drop that cupcake and hit the gym in a fury. Luckily, this year I can’t wait to buy some new swimsuits because #1: I may have a pool come spring (!) and #2: Thanks to my amazing trainer, I have lost over 10lbs and 2 inches off my hips (!!!). Victoria’s Secret must have sensed my enthusiasm because I just got their Swim ’10 catalog and I’m loving so many pieces! Now if only I could get their models’ abs & tans!
If you like what you see, check out their Swim section!
Weekend Highlights
We definitely had no idea what we were in for when we sent in our RSVP for an old family friend’s wedding. The ceremony was at Epiphany Church and was standing room only. We discovered there were 1200 guests and 17 buses to shuttle us all from the church to the cocktail and reception venues, which were the most glorious houses I’ve ever seen in my life. Holy hell. We were greeted by Asian drummers, trays and trays of champagne, cirque de soliel type dancers and performers, an ice bar literally made of ice serving all kinds of shots and martinis and about 10 different food stations throughout the premises. Now that was an event. I wish pictures could do it justice, but they really couldn’t. Regardless, you can check out the set on my Flickr here. Congratulations to the lovely bride and groom!
