I love experimenting with desserts. They are usually a lot less difficult to make than main entrees and are just way more fun. Wouldn’t you agree? Definitely the case when it comes to these too-cute chocolate party spoons. They really make an impression with their bright colors and decorative accents, but seem so easy to make! I’m going to have a go at them for our Valentine’s Day celebration (I’m planning the whole thing this year – pressure!), and will definitely report back with a play-by-play. Until then, check out the Delicious Delicious Delicious blog’s short and sweet tutorial!
Lovable Friday!
Although I’ve been a member of Pinterest for a little while now, it just recently hit me how amazing it truly is. I have been a pinning fool. It’s an addiction that I do not want to recover from. I love the idea of having virtual pin boards where I can collect ideas in organized sets. I used to do the same on Flickr, but it was messy and difficult to sort through. This, is so much sleeker and better. Plus, you get to share your pins with others and sort through their pins (and repin similar to Tumblr) as well. Feel free to visit my boards and if it strikes your fancy, say so in the comments so I can send you an invite!
Weekend Highlights
I always look forward to New Year’s after the hecticness of the holidays – it’s like my final and best Christmas present. We don’t have any traditions for NYE, only to spend it having a great time with our closest friends. Last year it was at our place, but I just wasn’t up for it this year with all our holiday spendings, however, we were lucky enough to be invited to a friend’s parent’s big blowout party at their gorgeous home in Cocoplum.
I had a great time with the most special people in our lives right now. I felt very lucky to be able to ring in the year with them all. Plus, the spread was amazing! Such a beautiful home complete with a mini champagne-filled fountain, delicious food, open bar and painter illustrating the entire landscape. See? Amazing.
Unfortunately, I wish I would have taken it easy with the shots – I’m not used to drinking hard liquor anymore since I have been in a pretty committed relationship with beer for the past couple of years. But, it could have been a whole lot worse. My only main gripe was that it put me out of commission all of New Years Day. Boo!
Now that all this partying is over and done with, I’m going back on a strict-ish diet (c’mon, this girl loves food too much) and hitting the gym to take up spinning. This extra holiday poundage is not cool.
How was your NYE?
Lovable Friday!
I have a lot of empty wall space in our new home as we have only been living here for 6 months (can’t believe it’s been such a short amount of time), but we have been keeping our eyes peeled for some nice art pieces to fill that void. However, after seeing the beautiful painting Jen Ramos of MadeByGirl quickly cooked up on her own, I am thinking of investing in a canvas and paintbrushes. How gorgeous and powerful is this artwork? I adore the modern simplicity of it. And what’s better than saying “I did that” while giving home tours to friends and family?
Weekend Highlights
This past week Miami played host to the very artsy fartsy Art Basel. It is a contemporary art exhibition, which has been referred to as the Olympics of the art world. Although I am not a fan of the pretentious crowd that makes its way into my city, I absolutely love all the talent that starts flooding in as well. There was an overwhelming amount of galleries, exhibits, installations and events going on throughout South Beach, Downtown and the Design District and at times, was enough to make your head spin. Thankfully, I decided to take it easy this time around by picking and choosing those that seemed really up my alley without overdoing it. Which ones made the cut? Metric’s free show on the beach, Toyota Antics at Grand Central featuring Phantogram (too bad they didn’t play until after we left), Rainbow City and Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary Small Gift party.
