As a girl that struggles putting together appropriate and chic outfits for the office, I can truly appreciate the advice given on the WorkChic blog. Unlike other working girl blogs, they cover a variety of different budgets as well as different levels of formality from casual to professional and everything in between. My difficulties stem from having to put together business casual outfits while knowing that I will be working with children. Plus, I tend to gravitate more towards the “fun clothes” while shopping. The show that took New York City by storm is finally making its way to Miami. FuerzaBruta is described as being “a non-stop collision of dynamic music, visceral emotion and kinetic aerial imagery.” The audience are active members in the performance with the majority of the action taking place inches above their heads. Feeling a little MUSE-ical.

Warning: This is not an April Fools Joke.

I could barely contain myself (& still really can’t) yesterday when my best friend, Elsie, told me that Muse was going to be opening for U2 on select US dates. In fact, I was so shocked, I didn’t trust her. But sure enough, after a quick google search, there it was! My proof! And as if that wasn’t good enough, one of those select dates includes a Florida one (Tampa to be exact)! I literally jumped all around our office and hugged everyone. If you don’t believe me, just ask any of my coworkers. I looked like a nut. But this is a momentous occasion. If I remember my history right, I’m pretty sure Muse has only played Florida about 3-4 times in their entire career and unfortunately were either never announced as openers or headlined very small shows like the MTV Campus Invasion tour. Although I am no longer a huge U2 fan (prefer their old stuff), I will be buying tickets on Monday when they go on sale only to finally see one of my favorite bands live. To think, this love affair all began with an obsessive rented satellite radio almost two years ago.

I ordered a big girl item from my friend, Nadia’s, Etsy store (which I featured earlier this month) and I was excited to get the package the other night. What I wasn’t expecting was the adorable surprise included: Smashing Pumpkin clippies! For those 2 people that still do not know, I am a huge Pumpkins fan and have been since I was about 13/14 years old. Unfortunately, I just got the most terrible news also this week: Drummer, Jimmy Chamberlin, decided to leave the band. I don’t know if I can fully be behind a band with the Pumpkins’ name without Jimmy being involved. We’ll see. Either way, these clippies made me smile from ear to ear & I plan on wearing them a lot. Actually, I’m wearing them right now! I love my friends.

Hi, blogosphere!

After years of having a very tightly locked Livejournal account and several months of attempting the blogger route, I finally have my very own spot on the world wide web. And it’s Melificent!

Although it feels very strange to make an “introductory post” after I’ve imported a few of my blog posts from my previous blogger account, I figured it may be helpful to those that will decide to jump on board now with this new site. For the rest of you, just bear with my temporary (ha) narcissism.

  • I am married to my best friend.
  • I work in the Mental Health field.
  • I have 2 Boston Terriers. They rule.
  • I puffy heart the Internets.
  • I adore music. All kinds. But I am a rock & roll girl at heart.
  • I think any reason is a good enough reason to throw a party.
  • Rock Band lets me live out my rock star fantasies.
  • I’m not your typical girl: I like comic books, videogames & fast cars.
  • I believe strongly in retail therapy.
  • I’m impulsive, passionate & obsessive. And I like it.
  • I keep up to date with celebrity gossip more so than current events. Opps.
  • I watch a ridiculous amount of TV. I’m sure it’s unhealthy & my DVR agrees.
  • I fit the bill for an embarassing babbling fangirl. You’ve been warned.
  • I refuse to believe growing older means growing up. I still act like a little kid.
  • I love to travel. I want to see the whole world one day.
