I had such great plans for today’s outfit post, but unfortunately, the Miami weather didn’t feel the same. It was a wicked downpour, so I had to switch things up. Thankfully, an umbrella makes a pretty awesome prop. Although I wasn’t able to show the fun and flouncy aspects of this dress, you will have to trust me. It is just the cutest little number ever. I love the red/pink color combo, its light and airy feel and its fun circle skirt. Who doesn’t like to twirl around in a pretty frock? No one, that’s who. 😉
What I Wore: Festivus
This past weekend we celebrated my hubs’ big 3-0. His birthday actually falls the week before we leave to Europe, but since it is such a milestone birthday, I didn’t want it to be something small and rushed due to the big trip taking over precedence. So we moved it up a month and invited all our friends to our pad for what would turn out to be one wild and crazy night complete with balloon-infested bouts of karaoke (look below for video evidence), shots of the KRAKEN and night swimming. Although I may have been harboring murderous thoughts about my nearest and dearest the next morning, I am so happy everyone came out to make his night so special. We are lucky to have some pretty cool people in our lives. Thanks for making this crazy ride called life so amazing, friends.
Since I was to be the hostess, I wanted to make sure I looked cute while still being able to play the part. I started off with a dress and really high booties (more on my bootie love later this week), but figured that wasn’t really practical. And I was totally right. That’s why I settled for this sweet little sailor meets Parisian outfit. I especially love the skirt – it is my most favorite in my closet due to comfort, the way it flatters the smallest part of my body and the fact that everyone always thinks it is a dress! I added some fun details like turning my awesome Ban.do shoe clips into a headband accessory and a very loud & glittery nail polish.
Ban.do Beauties!
I’m a recent convert to the church of Ban.do. My newly undying love came with my purchase of their sequined heart shoe clips during the holidays. I absolutely adore their bright, glittery and girly accessories. It definitely doesn’t hurt that their shoots to promote their adorable products are styled spot on – appealing to the sparkly 12-year-old princess in all of us.
For those brides-to-be, Ban.do also offers a lot of gorgeous, one of a kind headpieces for your big day, but I’m especially excited about their new line. Their over-sized bows, corsages, headbands and crystal shoe clips really make me swoon and have been released just in time for your Valentine’s Day celebrations! Now if only I had the guts to wear these out – you know I could rock those big, colorful bows! 😉
Quick edit: Ban.do is offering a coupon code until tomorrow night (2.2.11)! Enter sharkpig at checkout to get 15% off all new arrivals!
Lovable Friday!
I have a lot of empty wall space in our new home as we have only been living here for 6 months (can’t believe it’s been such a short amount of time), but we have been keeping our eyes peeled for some nice art pieces to fill that void. However, after seeing the beautiful painting Jen Ramos of MadeByGirl quickly cooked up on her own, I am thinking of investing in a canvas and paintbrushes. How gorgeous and powerful is this artwork? I adore the modern simplicity of it. And what’s better than saying “I did that” while giving home tours to friends and family?
Lovable Friday!
Could these get any cuter? Ban.do never fails to produce the most fun accessories on the planet. These sequin heart shoe clips instantly make a boring pair of shoes turn into a party on your feet! I love all things glittery and sparkly so these immediately called to me. They have most definitely been added to my Christmas wish list (listening husband?) and should be added to yours too! FYI, there are plenty of other shoe clip styles to choose from on the site if these are not for you (but seriously, how could they not?).
