I always said that if my hubs had a band, it would sound just like The Black Keys. Their blue-sy rock is something that the music industry has been missing lately – it’s just plain old fun rock and roll. And we were lucky enough to see them play The Fillmore Sunday night with some really great friends. Their show was absolutely amazing. They just brought it full throttle. Unfortunately, the crowd around us (seemingly only around us) was really young and really annoying. Made us have a few “I’m too old for this shit” moments, but we would quickly snap out of it (we’re cool, we’re hip!). Towards the end of the show, the poor hubs got a killer migraine causing us to have to jet out early, but overall the show was really awesome and I think what made it so great was how genuine vocalist/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer/producer Patrick Carney were in their performance. Check ‘em out if they roll into your neck of the woods!

Up next on the concert front?  Mute Math (one of my aboslute favorites) & 30 Seconds To Mars a week from today with some of my best girls! I can’t wait!

Friday night we headed to Ian and Beau’s new apartment for their official housewarming. We had entirely too much fun with their dirty word magnets and were inundated with entirely too much beer. I tried my best to be on my best behavior though as the next morning was the autism walk in Broward.

Je_T__Adore_by_Kezzi_Rose_large

This weekend consisted of a lot of boring, mundane stuff that wouldn’t really cut it as exciting blog material, so I decided to just share some links that I’ve been digging.

- This blog is adorable.
- My favorite version of Letting the Cables Sleep.
- Just placed a custom order for an illustration of us. So sweet!
- The hubs ordered a Zumi Digi cam over the weekend. Can’t wait to play!
- Sweetest dress ever from Lulu’s.
- Mute Math is touring in support of 30 Seconds to Mars & I got tickets for their Miami Beach show: overjoyed!
- Design a Muse tour poster & win a VIP package to their show in Portland plus a new Apple iPad! We are entering fer sure.

Hope you all have a great week and remember to enter to win Melissa Auf Der Maur’s new album before the contest ends on Thursday! Also, stick around for another great giveaway you are really going to dig tomorrow!

ps; Happy March!

Saturday brought on the Buzz Bake Sale in West Palm Beach with two of my favorites: Elissa & Roxy. Like I mentioned in the previous post, I was mostly there for both Metric, Our Lady Peace and 30 Seconds to Mars. I left feeling the same. The rest of the bands were god awful – in fact, I don’t know how people can listen to such crappy music. To be fair, I didn’t hear any of the bands on the side stage except for Metric so I can’t count them in the terrible category. But Say Anything, Sick Puppies, The Used and Chevelle made my ears want to bleed. Panic! At the Disco still didn’t win me over (just not my kind of music), but I have to admit that the lead singer’s voice was outrageous. Matisyahu was really great as well, but unfortunately, I just caught the tail end of his performance.

Yes, my blogging silence has officially ended. Rejoice?

I’ve seen quite a few bloggers posting this meme and thought it couldn’t be more relevant, after all, I am a bona fide concert addict. Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing bands that I truly love up close and personal – to have that connection that is really indescribable. Even better sometimes is going to a show blind  and being blown away by a new act. Discovering a band while Internet surfing or listening to your friend’s record collection cannot compare in the least bit with discovering them live. So without further ado, here is my (very long & comprehensive) list:

Bands I have seen live

The Smashing Pumpkins (5x)
No Doubt (2x)
Bush (2x)
