Weekend Highlights: Band From TV Edition!

I knew Saturday was going to be all sorts of awesome, but I have to say the night surpassed all my expectations! First, I got to meet the amazingly awesome (& hawt) blogger, Rosy, from Accidental Sexiness (follow her blog if you don’t already!). We had been following each other on Twitter for a few weeks, sharing our love for Heroes, tall men & all things British. It was such a treat to finally meet her in person and get to share such an amazing experience along with her. I have to say that she is one great partner in crime!

After beginning our night the way we promised we wouldn’t (by drinking heavily), we headed to The Shore Club. The minute we walked into the hotel, we run into Mr. Greg Grunberg. I was buzzing pretty hard off my ridiculously huge drinks, but thought quick enough to mention Yowza instantly! Before I knew it, Grunny was all over my iPhone trying to change my preferences as well as trying to fix my busted Google Maps application. I don’t really think I processed who I was talking to – he was so down to earth and amazingly sweet that it was hard to imagine that this guy is a celebrity on a hit TV show. It is always such a treat to meet talented people that are still humble and truly care about their fans.

Concert Season: Kings of Leon

148772_kings-of-leon4

Today marks the beginning of my “concert season.” After today, I will have about 1 to 2 concerts a week leading right into the first week of June and I couldn’t be more excited. The thought of having a show every week really makes my work days go by faster! So look forward to a lot of concert giddiness as well as reviews coming up the entire month of May here on the blog.

Tonight I’ll be seeing Kings of Leon at the BankUnited Center. This is my second time seeing them live – they opened for Pearl Jam last summer and I was blown away. I was already a fan, but seeing how amazing they were in concert made me even more so. To me, they represent good old rock & roll and I really don’t believe there is enough of that out in the music scene right now. I couldn’t be happier to see them headlining their own shows in relatively large venues – the 4/5 songs I heard them play when they were openers definitely was not enough. So I’ll be strapping on my dance shoes tonight in preparation for what I know is going to be a great & extremely energetic show from the boys.

For those of you not familiar with the band, check out the video for their newest single (and one of my favorite songs of theirs), Sex on Fire:

If you are also making it out to the show tonight & happen to have floor tickets as well, maybe we’ll share a dance or two 😉

Weekend Highlights: Ratatat

ratatat

When my husband bought tickets to see one of his favorite bands, Ratatat, I have to admit…I really didn’t know what to expect. Ratatat’s “style” is still kind of difficult for me to describe to others, which I had to do quite a bit of Sunday afternoon while explaining to my family that we were leaving Easter celebrations to go to a concert. “They are kind of a mixture of everything” is probably the best I can do & still stick to the same after seeing them live last night.

Feeling a little MUSE-ical.

museroid

Warning: This is not an April Fools Joke.

I could barely contain myself (& still really can’t) yesterday when my best friend, Elsie, told me that Muse was going to be opening for U2 on select US dates. In fact, I was so shocked, I didn’t trust her. But sure enough, after a quick google search, there it was! My proof! And as if that wasn’t good enough, one of those select dates includes a Florida one (Tampa to be exact)! I literally jumped all around our office and hugged everyone. If you don’t believe me, just ask any of my coworkers. I looked like a nut. But this is a momentous occasion. If I remember my history right, I’m pretty sure Muse has only played Florida about 3-4 times in their entire career and unfortunately were either never announced as openers or headlined very small shows like the MTV Campus Invasion tour. Although I am no longer a huge U2 fan (prefer their old stuff), I will be buying tickets on Monday when they go on sale only to finally see one of my favorite bands live. To think, this love affair all began with an obsessive rented satellite radio almost two years ago.

Concert Season

My hubs and I are concert goers. Seeing live music is one of my main hobbies. I enjoy it so much. There really is nothing like seeing one of your favorite bands live – experiencing the music and sharing it with your closest friends. Unfortunately, Miami doesn’t play host to many great bands but that seems to be changing as of late. We’ve had a lot of great bands coming through our area for once, which makes me really excited and hopeful that we will get even more!

This summer is especially jam packed with musical goodness. I have tickets to see 4 different artists and it’s only March! And they are all wonderful. Want to know who?

Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon are just good rock and roll. And I’m a good rock and roll kind of girl. I was hooked on first listen and was lucky enough to see them open for Pearl Jam back last summer. They were amazing and I hoped and prayed that they would come back headlining their own show. And what do you know? Here they are! I scored floor tickets and will be sharing the fun with my good friend & forever concert buddy, Elissa. It should be tons of fun.
