Having a pretty irritating night as I write this up, so excuse if I am not as bubbly as usual. Jason has been a favorite of mine since Rushmore and it was basically solidified after I Heart Huckabees. He the ultimate “cool yet nerdy kid.” I absolutely loved him and Zooey Deschanel together. It basically broke my heart when they separated and then was stomped on yet again when he became engaged and married to clothing designer, Brady Cunningham, last month. He’s probably best known as Wes Anderson’s golden child: appearing in the majority (if not all?) of his movies and for that infamous line from Rushmore: “These are OR scrubs. O R they?” Jason is now the star of HBO’s new series, Bored to Death, which premiered this past Sunday and I found to be completely hysterical. Also, he has his own band, Coconut Records, which I find to be amazing. Basically, he is the perfect man for all those indie hipsters out there (and me). Enjoy the spam, ladies!

We Could Be Heroes…
…Just for one day night!
Sorry for the super duper late post everyone, but last night we hosted a viewing party for the season 4 premiere of Heroes! Although a few fans couldn’t make it at the last minute, we still had a good time. However, I must say that it was quite the challenge to watch a 2-hour season premiere with people that had never watched the show before, but they were troopers and dealt with my yelling and grumbling under my breath. 😉
Our awesome friend, Roxy, made these kick ass brain cupcakes in honor of our favorite character, Sylar (of course). They were absolutely scrumptious but I have to admit that as I put the brain (actually a mold using candy) portion in my mouth, I may have gagged a little. The coolest part about these cupcakes is that I tweeted about them this morning, and Ms. Wendi Lynn herself re-tweeted me with a message from a little guy you may know:
Uhhhh, awesome sauce. Have I mentioned how much I adore Twitter? Because I do. Just sayin’.
Anywho, as if these cupcakes weren’t enough, we also put together some pretty tasty Chicken & Waffles dishes, which ties in to the show as being Hiro’s favorite childhood meal. We definitely got no complaints on that front – the plates basically disappeared in a puff of smoke (super powers?). I also provided super hero masks to the girls (boys refused), which we found to be pretty debilitating in regards to drinking beer effectively and, you know…seeing. So those were short-lived.
So on to the stuff I know you really care about: the show. Do not read on if you do not want to be spoiled.
Weekend Highlights
On Saturday night, I went with the hubs & Elsie to Lincoln Road theater to see the documentary, It Might Get Loud. The movie revolves around Jack White (The White Stripes), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) and The Edge (U2) as they discuss their different backgrounds, musical styles, influences and general passion for music. The three eventually get together to discuss what music means to them and to swap musical stylings with each other. I didn’t know the story behind these men, even being a big fan of their music, and was blown away by the level of dedication and creativity. Music is such a big part of my life so I was mesmerized by their techniques and just general love for their craft. I definitely recommend this documentary to musicians and music lovers alike!
Lovable Friday
Wednesday night I joined a bunch of my friends at Ft. Lauderdale’s Revolution LIVE to see She Wants Revenge. I have to admit that I came into it pretty clueless when it came to any details about the band. I had just heard a couple of singles and found them fun to dance to. One of my best friends, Elsie, is a huge fan and when she invited me to come along with her – I decided what the hell! I am so glad I went! First off, it turns out a large group of our friends were going so being able to spend a night dancing with some of my favorite people is always a win in my book. Second, one of the opening bands was Kill Hannah, who are a Chicago band that have had a long friendship with Mr. Billy Corgan himself! It was my first time seeing them and they were amazing – could definitely hear the strong Pumpkins influence. However, I was too chicken to go up to them after the show and express our mutual SP love. Fail. Lastly, wow. She Wants Revenge definitely blew me away – they were so.much.fun. I danced until I couldn’t feel my toes anymore! But what happened after the show was probably the best part of the night. We were able to meet the band & two of my friends got their SWR lyrical tattoos signed by both members, Adam & Justin! They were quite possibly the coolest guys ever – I always love meeting celebrities that don’t take themselves so seriously. Unfortunately, I just discovered that Adam was passing a kidney stone that night through his Twitter account! I can’t believe he was going through so much pain but still managed to be so polite to his fans: he chatted them up, signed autographs and took pictures with all of them. Not to mention headed to LIV at the Fountainbleu in Miami to spin a set after our show! I think it’s pretty safe to say that these guys just got themselves a new fan.
Squeeworthy: I/A Collektive
I usually like posting about my friends that are extremely talented and creative so they can get the exposure they deserve in the blogosphere, or at least in my own personal space in the blogosphere (heh). But this time, I am able to gush about my own husband! Augi spends his days working as an Art Director at an interactive agency, but he is lucky enough to have many talents (so jealous). He is an amazing guitarist and artist, but I’d say his biggest passion outside of work is photography. Augi is a self-taught photographer that has just recently been honing in on his craft. He’s invited some of our closest friends and family to model for him in order to build his portfolio and he finally thought it was robust enough to put together a blog/website showing off his work, which can be found here!
