Two.

It’s really hard to wrap my head around the fact that my little baby is two. I feel like I was just writing the “one” post for her yesterday, and here we are. The past year has been so revolutionarily different from the last. It was more learning how to balance mom life with personal and work. It was hard. Many times I felt very much alone. But it made me realize how much I am really capable of. I’ve always struggled with confidence and believing in myself (I blame it on being the “baby” of the family), but Luna gave me a great gift. She let me see what I am truly made of. She has made me feel like a wonder woman, and there are few moments where I feel like I can’t conquer something if I try hard enough, and that is quite a feat. She has also opened my eyes to the people I want in my life, my goals, and what is truly important. I am a different person: a better one because everything is in perspective.

As for Luna, she has grown in so many ways. She loves the outdoors and is a very active child. Her favorite past time is running outside and she has just recently begun to jump, which is adorable to watch. She also loves music (she was made her music teacher’s helper at school), singing and dancing. Her favorite movie is Moana, and her favorite TV shows are PJ Masks, True + the Rainbow Kingdom and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She loves to rough house and her giggles could light up the whole world. She always cleans up after herself, loves to wash her hands, and is successfully potty trained. She is sassy, says “cheeeeese!” when she sees a camera, and is a social butterfly. She loves to pick her outfits every morning and will shout “BOW! (go)” at the top of her lungs when we are taking too long to get out the door. She is beautiful and magical. She is my best friend, and my tiny partner in crime. It’s us against the world, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thank you for all the gifts you unknowingly give me every day, Luna.
Happy second, my lion.

What I Wore: Mom Life

I’m not going to lie. The past few weeks have been real difficult over on the Melificent side of the world. Lets not even touch on all the current events unfolding that have both simultaneously broken my heart and angered me down to my very core. Of course, when I put my situation next to all that, I am eternally grateful to be alive, healthy and surrounded by love. But guys. Sometimes momming ain’t easy. And it takes a village. And, well. Some of us don’t have that village. So it’s been lots of hustling on the job side, while balancing all our to-do’s and being there for little Luna. This mom is exhausted.

I had been complaining that I wasn’t looking very cute lately, as I have been leaning towards more of the mom uniform and less of the fashion blogger. But, this past weekend I decided to blend them both. And what do you know? You really can find comfort and style while running after a toddler. Who knew?

What I Wore: You CAN Sit With Us

Last weekend was the first time that I attended a Geek Girl Brunch Miami event as a brunchette, and not an officer. Whoa.
It elicited a lot of feels that were constantly contradicting each other: happiness, relief, sadness, regret, etc. Lets face it, it’s not easy to walk away from something you absolutely love, no matter how much you know you need to. Something I can say I feel with 100% certainty is pride. From the outside, this organization may seem very silly and immature, but it is very important. It made a lot of ladies feel like they were accepted for the first time, free of judgement. They could be themselves in a safe environment.  And I will always be proud and humbled to know that I was a part of creating that in my city.

With those heavy feels aside, our brunch was 90’s themed, and I decided to go as my number one favorite 90’s geek queen: Daria. Without even knowing, one of my good friends (that I wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for Geek Girl Brunch) ended up dressing up as Jane. Kismet. Who else says leggings like Quinn and immediately imagines their eye popping out of its socket when they are super frustrated like Daria’s dad? Anyone? Just me? Cool.

Nerdy Must Haves

Hey Guys!

I survived Hurricane Irma with minimal damage (thank God!), but I still do not have Internet access, or in turn, TV. That means I can’t blog as regularly as I used to and have to travel to a local Starbucks to do so (that goes for work too). I’m also very behind on all things pop culture. But we are safe and no other storms look to be threatening us (peace out, Maria!), so all is good. There are a lot of fun things coming up in the next few months, so I’m excited to be able to share them all with you.

For now, enjoy all the things I have been coveting, but having to refrain from purchasing in lieu of hurricane supplies.

  1. Wizardry + Witchcraft palette; I am more than fully aware that I am behind on the Storybook Cosmetics trend, but I wasn’t sure if their makeup was just a collector’s piece or if they were actually wearable. After watching several reviews on YouTube, I can say that I am beyond impressed with this palette. It’s beautifully pigmented and perfect for the fall. Way to go, triplets!
  2. Weird Mom Club tee; I haven’t gotten excited about a brand in a long time the way I am about the Weird Mom Club. Nicole has perfectly captured what it is like to not be the run of the mill mother in a sea of normality. I often feel like an outcast with my tattoos and general style whenever at a parenting event, but this little shop has made me realize I am not alone. I’m currently obsessed with getting this ringer tee. Are you a weird mom too? Check out Nicole’s awesome products!
  3. Rainbow dress; I’m always on a constant hunt for adorable clothes. Lately, I don’t get much of a chance to wear anything cute (I lament about this often on my IG stories), thus the lack of outfit posts on the blog, but it doesn’t stop me from scouring the net for them. This dress immediately caught my eye as it looks comfy enough to work with my mommy lifestyle, especially paired with a cute pair of sneakers or espadrilles. Score!
  4. Avada Kedavra Satchel; If something was ever on brand, this little satchel sure is! I became completely obsessed with it after seeing CritiqueGeek sporting it on her IG. It also has a matching wallet because BoxLunch clearly hates me and wants all my money. It would be absolutely perfect for my wizarding anniversary trip in November and has instantly flown to the top of my wish list.

What I Wore: Wonder Bread

You have to love outfits that make you smile, and when I saw this dress, it did absolutely that. I feel like you cannot possibly wear a frown on your face if you have this baby on. And doesn’t everyone need an outfit like that in their life? I think so.

I’m sure you have seen me post about this sweet little polka dot dress from Unique Vintage all over my Instagram, and I loved that someone said it reminded them of Wonder Bread. Memories of eating Wonder Bread at my grandmother’s house immediately spring to mind, and I can’t lie. I still buy it for the house too.

The world needs a little more smiles and love these days, and if I can give it to them in this brightly colored frock, then I’d wear it every day.
