Weekend Highlights: Halloween Edition!

This weekend was so much fun I could hardly stand it, but I didn’t expect anything less. It is no secret that I have a pretty serious love affair with Halloween and really enjoy dolling up for the festivities. Saturday night we had the annual AgencyNet Halloween party in their new digs. I finally unveiled my secret costume that I had been concealing for several months now – Maleficent! Thanks to the Academy of Glam, I was able to really perfect the look with some kick ass makeup. All other pieces were picked up randomly through Amazon stores and American Apparel. I’m really happy with the way the costume turned out and it was a little too fun to be evil for a night. Although, I have to admit that perfecting a villainous bitch face was tough!

Weekend Highlights

It’s October, everyone!!!!

Why so excited? Well, aside from all the birthdays  & events I have lined up this month, it means it is HALLOWEEN! As long as I can remember, Halloween has been my favorite holiday. I think it was the whole be someone else aspect that really made it so appealing. I also have always loved playing dress up, so it’s right up my alley. I generally start looking for costume ideas around August and have made a decision by September. This year, I picked my costume relatively early and am so excited to see it come together.

But what I was just as excited for this year was decorating a house! In our old apartment, I was definitely limited in what I could do decor-wise and usually just settled for a hanging door sign. Well, limited decorations no longer! The second the calendar fell on October 1st, I began shopping and decorating. By the time Sunday rolled around, our house was in full blown ghoul mode. Unfortunately, it seems like we are the only house in the neighborhood that has gone spooky – I’m really hoping that will change as the month continues because I’d hate to live in an area where people don’t celebrate such a fun holiday.

Weekend Highlights

Saturday we went on a mini-road trip up to Orlando to pick up some white laminate flooring for the hubs’ office. Unfortunately, our IKEA doesn’t carry laminate flooring any longer and they refused to ship it down to our Sunrise location (which I thought was silly) so we just had to take matters into our own hands and drive up there to grab it ourselves! Since we were making the trek, we decided to make it worth our while by stopping in to Orlando’s new H&M at the Florida Mall. I wasn’t very lucky with clothes (either they didn’t have my size or it was ill-fitting), but was able to stock up on cute accessories including the two pairs of shoes above! The striped wedges were only $20, while the orange ballet flats were $10! I definitely cannot wait to have one of these closer to home! 😉

Weekend Highlights: Valentine’s Day Edition

I’m sorry this post came so late – we had a really busy (but wonderful) weekend and we didn’t have today off like the majority of you lucky people! Our Valentine’s Day was amazing though. Completely low-key in traditional Sanchez style, but very romantic and special.

I never would have thought that I would be the one putting together our Valentine’s Day dinner, but lately I’ve learned to expect the unexpected! The hubs and I are pretty mellow people when it comes to Valentine’s Day. If you all remember, last year we spent the day at IKEA shopping and eating ice cream followed by a photoshoot. This year, we are planning on having a little picnic at a nearby park and then following it up that night with a romantic dinner for two at home.
