Trend Bush!

Today, both myself and all the members of the Bush Army, a group of dedicated fans of the band Bush, will be attempting to trend the band on Twitter. I’d love it if some of my great readers could jump on board and help! Everyone knows how much the band means to me and how excellent they are with their fans from all my amazing experiences I have shared on here, so they are definitely well worth it. And all you have to do is pretty simple:

1. Log into your Twitter account or create an account here (it’s free!).

2. Make a post. About anything related to the band and/or music. Make sure to include the following hashtag: #Bush

Easy as 1,2…wait, there’s not even a 3!

Hope you can all participate. And for all of those that find my activity today annoying, feel free to block my tweets or just ignore them. I’ll be back to my regular tweeting schedule tomorrow!

ps; Special thanks to Ace for putting the video above together. Make sure to check out her other Bush-related videos on her youtube channel, ChemicalsBWus!

Weekend Highlights

This past week Miami played host to the very artsy fartsy Art Basel. It is a contemporary art exhibition, which has been referred to as the Olympics of the art world. Although I am not a fan of the pretentious crowd that makes its way into my city, I absolutely love all the talent that starts flooding in as well. There was an overwhelming amount of galleries, exhibits, installations and events going on throughout South Beach, Downtown and the Design District and at times, was enough to make your head spin. Thankfully, I decided to take it easy this time around by picking and choosing those that seemed really up my alley without overdoing it. Which ones made the cut? Metric’s free show on the beach, Toyota Antics at Grand Central featuring Phantogram (too bad they didn’t play until after we left), Rainbow City and Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary Small Gift party.

She’s Crafty: DIY Holiday Wreath

Well, I did say my wreath adventure was to be continued, and thankfully, I can say that the saga is done. Despite how tedious the process was, after a couple of days it became therapeutic. I would play one of my favorite iTunes playlists (lately it’s been Queen) and zone out in the art of yarn and glue guns.

And I’d like to share that experience with all of you in hopes that you can make your own wreath as well – even if it is not for the holidays, a nice wreath to hang at your front door or as interior decor never goes out of fashion. In fact, I plan on making a smaller one to hang year round!

So without further ado, here is Melificent’s very first tutorial:

Happy Hump Day: Darren Criss

Many friends have pointed me in the direction of a Very Potter Musical, and although the few little segments I’ve seen have been all sorts of wonderful for this Potter geek, it’s his most current role as Blaine on Glee that really made my heart swell. He plays Kurt’s new crush from Dalton Academy (please let him not join their ranks, it can’t be!) and he has managed to make me love songs I usually cannot stand. Examples? Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream and this week’s Soul Sister by Train. He is absolutely wonderful! Is there anyway I can make him pocket-sized so I can tote him with me everywhere I go? No? Oh. Well, I guess this picspam will have to do!

Christmas Gift Donations

Credit: State Library of New South Wales Collection (Flickr)

For all of those that do not  know, I have a full-time job working with therapeutic foster children. These children either have a mental health diagnosis or are developmentally disabled. A lot of them have been abused, neglected or abandoned by their families and many have never received a gift, much less celebrated a holiday, in their lives.

We’d like to change the way they view the holidays by making sure their Christmas is a special one. I am asking my friends and family if they would like to participate in donating Christmas gifts to these very special children and I’d like to extend the opportunity to my readers as well.

If you are interested in donating a gift to a foster child, please comment to this post.
Thank you in advance!
