Nothing like a casual Friday. Another restless night called for something comfortable, as I could barely bring myself out from under the covers, much less rock a pair of heels. Thankfully, I had a pretty slow day at work so I was able to just throw on a pair of my most favorite jeans in the world, a few layering tees and some chucks. After lunch, I had to shimmy my way over to my first physical in over 10 years, which was both scary and satisfying. We’ll see how I feel when I have to come in for bloodwork tomorrow (needles are the devil).
I though the perfect accessory for my outfit was a pair of nerdy specs, even though I don’t need to wear glasses. I can’t help that I think they are so adorable. I actually have about 3 pairs of “for looks only” glasses, which I get mocked for a lot, but I think they really add a fun vibe. Go ahead, hate my 20/20 vision. 😉

I have to admit, I struggle with layering and putting together cute cold weather outfits. It’s something I’ve slowly been trying to master mostly by looking at fashion blogs and trying my best to replicate. It also doesn’t help that I don’t have a lot of winter clothing, being a Miami girl and all. Everytime I see a cute sweater or jacket, I always reconsider since I know I’ll only be able to wear it about 2 weeks out of the year give or take. Surprisingly, we have had a lot of cold fronts this year (global warming, what?), so I have had to really work with the little items I do have to keep me warm. Of course, I walked out the door and froze to death since I chose something short sleeved, but hey! I thought I looked pretty cute and colorful, which was definitely needed after another night of restless sleep. Seemed to work, because a coworker told me I looked really happy and cheerful, when what I really wanted to do was pass out on my keyboard.
When it comes to my own personal style, one thing is for sure: I’m not scared of color. I’m usually drawn to the brightest and loudest pieces when I am out shopping. You know, the ones other people run away from, flailing their arms in complete and utter terror. Sure, people tell me they don’t like some of the things I wear, but I brush it off. One person’s tacky is another’s treasure. And I have complete confidence that I can transform tacky or gaudy into fun and kitschy. What can I say? It’s a talent. 😉
